Iraq war- task from God?
Uhh...
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God."
In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state, calling it "God's will."
...
"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God," she said. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan."
Now is it just me or does that make anyone else a tad nervous? I don't like the idea of this being a holy war...and I have a hard time believing God wanted us to do this anyway.
All I know is that when religion gets involved in wars and dictating what's "right" using violence...it goes hardcore. (Kind of like our enemy...see the problem?) Amazing what people will do with a little righteous backing. I don't think I want the leaders of our nation thinking this is somehow a divinely inspired war...although I think Bush has already said something like that...talking to God or what have you. I think "God's will" would be ending the violence not a fucking war that drags on forever.
This war is about supposed to be about "freedom" or so the administration says, not because God said it was okay.
And a fucking natural gas pipeline? God does utilities now? What the hell?
(I'm going to regret posting this...)
