I want the game to look like THAT

http://www.1up.com/media/03/6/0/4/lg/630.jpg?r

When I first discovered the game I saw this gaint rook smashing those poor minotaurs, that made me exited.

When the beta came out it wasn't like that, not to say I don't enjoy the game (I think it can be a hit), just I don't understand why they changed that formula. now you have less minotaurs that are more big, I liked more the other way.

With that change the scale seems smaller and the demigods feels less epic.

I'm adding a picture so you can see what I mean:

in this picture you can see the gaint rook actually feels gaint as he rools those minotaurs +  more buildings make the base feels bigger.

I hope its not too late to try this changes, what do you think?

holy hell thats an old pic, anyway, once stardock got involved, the game changed a lot in the looks department, for the better. although I do agree that the rook was made mini, but its probly cuz u cant see around him otherwise...

I think part of the issues is that you will never play at that zoom and angle.  Instead, you will be looking down on them, so you need to be able to see everything.  I'd still love a few wide-open maps like that screenshot though, with more minotaurs in general.

I agree, some is angle, some ifs the rook was huge and the mminotaurs are tiny.  More importantly though, despite the changes to graphics, which I feel are large improvements, creeps should be bigger.

If they were they would be a legit threat and also make you feel like you were part of something even bigger.  Just my opinion.

I rekon its mostly angle, the game can be played from a low-to-the-floor angle but it is hard to do. The game just doesnt feel as epic, but im not sure if thats not just because its hard to play up close

Larger zergs won't do much to make you feel like you're something bigger, but more certainly would! Same damage output as a larger individual unit, same overall damage points, but more bodies, putting out a significant army force both for and against you. That's the game I came to play.

Luckily, it looks like the size of and possibly timing of waves will be adjustable on a per-game basis, so I can have my crashing waves of horrifying armies eventually.

I think they may be limiting the number of units in each creep while it's in beta. I'm sure eventually it'll be adjustable.

Rook did actually use to be bigger, however the size variance of the demigods had to be reduced for gameplay reasons (IIRC).

Yep, that screenshot was from a while before the beta started.  We increased the size and scale of the minotaurs with two goals in mind:

  1. Unit Selection.  It was very hard to select an individual soldier when there were dozens and dozens of them running around the screen.
  2. Performance.  Reducing the total number of units on screen is really beneficial for performance.

Although some of the game's epic scale was lost with the change, we felt the benefit to gameplay was worth it.

Well thank you for sharing us, I see your point now.

I still hope that in bigger maps there will be maps with more spawned units.
