[edited] "fan submissions" and Forum Issues sub-boards

Hey, so far I've noticed three problems w/ the forums.

1)I know people have said this before, just not sure if it was here - the search button does absolutely nothing. [fixed]

2) "Fan Submissions" sub-category of "Sins of a Solar Empire" does not show up on the home page like the others. [not yet fixed, same thing with this sub-board]

3)Noticed in thread "Digi*Cons Wars" the spock digicon sometimes glitches and gives this " (\B):vulcan:(\B) " [fixed, I think]

That is the actual spock glitch happening above, not me copying what it shows when it does it.

Fascinating :fuzzy:

figures spock would be the first to respond to a spock glitch.:P :borg:

the glitch doesn't always happen, and it doesn't only happen to me (another person in Digi*Con Wars had it happen as well)

1. I clicked on the search button and it worked just fine.  I even made a few searches and only pressed the search button and they all worked.  We are talking about the same search button right?  The one for the forums at the top of the page where it says "Welcome [username]?"  Let me know.

2. That may have been done on purpose.  If Zoomba doesn't see this I'll bring it to his attention.

3. Odd bug.  I'll add it to my list of "Forum ToDos."  Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I'm using Firefox 3... I dont get anything for "Thalans" but I do get results for other searches, such as Stardock (15 pages, which for a forum as small as GuiChamps, isn't unlikely).

Yeah, I tried using the Spock emoticon heaps of times and got the same error, I suspect Fuzzy is using HTML, I'll give it a shot now in html mode:fuzzy:

Edit.. It's already been fixed by the look of it, sweet ;)

I have IE, and it was a little while since I've checked them.

note: just checked search, turned up 0 results on the first two things I checked.  searched for "Korigul", "Remnants", and "Sins".  in that order.  Remnants is part of the name of my story in sins general, Korigul the main ship so far.  "Sins" turned up three pages, so I'm not sure how it works anymore.  does it search titles, content, or what?

As far as this item there are at least dozens of forums across Stardock's 12 different forum sites that have this same problem.

I refer to these as "invisible" forums and there may be more than 100 of them. One thing is that some of these forums are actually listed in the pulldown menu that's accessed by the down arrow at the right side of the top level forum listed in the sites category list (of course this only applies to top level subforums, sub-subforums are not visible using this method).

You can also see all forums accessible on a particular site by "walking the tree". For example if you select the Sins of a Solar forum and scroll down to the bottom of the post list then you see all of the subforums listed including Fan Submissions in the Sub Category list. If you do this for all forums and subforums on a site you will usually find many such "invisible" forums although naturally there are far fewer of these on the newer sites than on the old established sites like JU and WC.

You can also see that the forum exists and post to it by simply creating a post anywhere on the Sins site and use the pulldown menu on the post category.

But the most obvious way to see the forum is to see a thread that's in the forum scroll by on the recent posts list.

Like I said this is nothing new and something that applies to many if not hundreds of other forums scattered across SD's 12 forum sites.

It's intentional. Only the more commonly used categories are put on the front page to reduce clutter. Brad or Zoomba typically decides which ones will appear there.
