[Performance] Imposibly Slow Performance

My graphic card died shortly before the BETA release, so I'm using one of my older less good ones.

My PC is:
Pehnom X4 9950 BE
ATI X800XL
Windows Vista 64 Business (I got it for free...)
Everything up to date (drivers BIOS windows etc.)

I know my graphic card is old, but the performances I get is just ridiculous. I'm at minimal configuration, minimal resolution, and I get 2fps, and then it quickly slows down to about 0.5 fps, and I get graphical errors (like my demigod moving, but the visual avatar locked in place).

I used the same config to play supreme commander, and I can run it in Max settings (-average shadow -0AA), at 1600x1200 at a solid 15fps.

I such a performance diference normal? I heard SupCom was all CPU, but this is just crazy!

Is this normal? Does the game really require a very good graphics card? Am I doing something wrong? Is it my Vista? I read the DemiGod was to have lower requirements than SupCom, but apparenty, this is not the case.

I think the x800xl may only be sm2.0.  Does anyone know for sure?

It is.

So, does DemiGod not run without sm3.0? Did SupCom run with sm2.0? Is that the problem?

Hopefully, I'll be getting my HD4870 back from RMA pretty soon, so it's not a big problem, I'm just surprised to see such bad performances on this game, whereas I'm getting good performances on other high demand games. I haven't tried any very high demand games like crysis though.

some people say it works with SM2.0, some don't (actually, most don't).

best bet is to assume that it doesn't, but either way, if you have a SM2.0 card then you're probably not going to be able to enjoy DG much anyhow.

Okay, thanks for the info.

In this case, I'd like to report that sm2.0 is compatible with DemiGod, but the game is unplayable.

There are quite a bit of latency-related issues at the moment (which is hand-in-hand jinxing fps), so wait till next week with the next beta patching and try again - it might be more playable.  Use that as heuristic, so then you can completely blame the card if it is still bad.
