Want to play but quite scared...

Being an avid fan of DotA I am extremely excited about this game.  As of such, I really really want to pre-order and help in the beta testing and become a supporter of the development of what will most likely be a very awesome game.    The thing is I'm scared to pre-order it and then have it not run on my computer or run awfully slow.  I mainly play on my laptop (college student, no money for a PC :D) and I'm not really sure how it will run on it. Currently the Demigod reqs are as follows:

  • Windows XP SP3 / Vista SP1
  • 2.4 GHz Processor
  • 512 MB Available System Memory
  • 10 GB Available Hard Drive Space
  • 128 MB 3D Video Card (ATI Radeon 9800 / Nvidia GeForce 6800 or better)*
  • Sound Card
  • Broadband Internet Connection for Multiplayer
  • Stardock's Impulse Required for Updates/Digital Download
  • * Intel integrated chipsets are not supported.

My laptop has the following:

  • Windows XP SP3 / Vista SP1
  • 1.66GHz (Dual Core)
  • 1GB RAM
  • Plenty of Hard Drive Space
  • Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Display Adapter

So you see my dilemma.  I can play WoW fine...any help will be appreciated.

As mentioned in the sys req, Intel chips are not supported.

Your laptop will definitely not run demigod.  I have 2 laptops that can also run WoW but can't run demigod.

Intel onboard graphics chips don't support certain graphical functions that demigod has thats why intel chips are not supported, you need a graphic card

Even if the intel graphics card were supported, the game will be so slow that's it's unplayable.  WoW is a 4 year old game so it's not really fair to compare.  WoW eats up alot of memory but isn't graphicly intensive.

Demigod's requirements is more like Crysis.  You need a really powerful desktop to play it.

As for T0rm3nt3dS0ul, there's nothing you can do.  It's best that you wait until this game comes out around May.  Then you will probably be out of college and have a desktop at home.

Demigod's requirements isnt like crysis, crysis will eat your PC if its weak but then so will Supcom. In my old rig Supcom lagged my pc badly after I play a game, its like as if the cpu been raped due to the slowdown.

technically with the new i7 CPUS and the280 series graphic cards dropping the price of everything else its not that hard to run crysis
with a $500 - $700 PC. Just the Tower (*not counting peripherals and monitors)

cyrsis trust me is a hell of alot powerfuil than demigod. U need an ud to date computer and even than prob wont play it well. Even a pretty expensive comp now might not play it max. But the graphics trust me on this one are simply beautiful. People actually look almost real. My brother has the game and on his comp its just plain undecrible but that because its a shooter and it concentrates on massive detail while demigod is moreover alot on the screen and it still looks pretty nice.

Their will I think be an open demo for everyone eventually so for now u can chat and give some ideas and when the demo comes out u can see if your laptop it. Also in the mean time if u  could get a pc that would prob work better.
