All u people who didnt want change think about this. What if no one had thought of making an rts game before. Well no u all think its bad to make something new and differnt. What makes agmes good is that differnce, the reson their better than other game. I'm not saying game like sc2 are bad cause not original but what is pretty origiinal with sc2 was 3 races very differnt in play styles. Demigod is original because its a new type of game that hasn't really been exploered before. For now we can call it whatever we like but their is no title to put it under cause its new. It could become the start of a differnt type of game or it couldn't. I dodnt no about anyone else but when I buy a game, I want their to be something that I havn't done before. Also Dota is not the only game like demigod in my mind its more like Tides of blood. Fewer heroes/demigods maps dodnt that many paths.

Different for the sake of different is not good.

Different because there is a good reason to be different may be good if implemented properly.  Similar but tried and true may not be different, but it can be very good because it builds on established methods and principles.

Please, don't defend any aspect of Demigod simply because it is different.  I'm not saying Demigod ought to less original.  My point is simply that any aspect of the game needs to be defended on its merits, not simply for the fact that its different.  That includes whether or not its gameplay is RTS-like or not.

Currently the gameplay is

in real time, coz not turn based
strategic, coz you have to make strategic decision (a lot of)

BUT this is not a CnC like.
You have to ask yourself if the problem is calling DG "RTS" or if it's about gameplay problem.

My opinion is that some improvement have to be made with minions. But currently it's a game of a new genre with strategy and rpg-ish things.
I agree with the first post, dev had to explain more what type of gameplay they are creating. Not just saying RTS by GPG (so what, supcom like ?) with a RPG flavor.

who cares what gametype it is? are game makers only allowed to stick with some existing genre's? maybe this game is way more fun to play then other games

I'm defending Demigod because right now I find it fun, and hopefully it will be more fun when Demigod is balanced. Now u guys are insulting it just because its not differnt without thinking first have I had fun playing demigod and if so how can we duplicate that event.

Agian, It's true diffrent isn't always better, but so far, in this case, it is. The truth is, had I not bought Demigod last year when I first heard about it, I probably wouldnt have bought it at all. NO OFFENSE DEMIGOD, but there are a lot of amazing looking games that are coming out, many sequals that I've played, and I would deffinetlly have just saved my money for those. Now, I know I would have been stupid. Demigod is a great new and diffrent kind of game, and thats why I think for both marketing purposes and for the sake of progress in the world of videogames (maybe more games in this new genre) we should help create a new genre, one that encompasses what Demigod truly is.
