I'd like an option to allow the showing of which country a player is from in the game lobby, this could be set in preferences. I don't think it should be enforced, just if a person wants to display it, they can.
Well, I know that in DotA at least, it was good to know which country people are from, so that you can potentially weed out the people with bad connections before starting a game.
The problem you get there is people kicking others just because they're from a certain place. I mean personally I'm not a fan of french people online because, in general, the blabber away in their language and ignore everything you try to say, even if you try and speak their language. So yeah, there is the discrimination thing to factor in.
@TheWormwood: The ping should be a measure of a good/bad connection, so why not just use that?
And I do wonder how much lag would affect a game like Demigod...
@ Mashakosha: I don't know about Demigod yet, but when I played DotA, 95% of the romanian/russian people I played with/against had horrible spikes/disconnects, even though their latency looked good. Nothing personal against them, but I prefer to play lag-free.
I will try out a UI mod to see what I can do. Never worked with that IP-to-country code before, but since we have access to the IP address of others, I will give it a try!
I have the functions all working, but they are not giving out any of the players IP addresses in the online lobby due to their different network system which goes by a a unique ID your account has. If they put the IP information back into the game, then I could have a working mod for it.

I don't know if I see this as a good idea, especially if poor pings results in majorly adverse gameplay. Preconceptions will be made instantly just based on the flag you are using, and even still, what about spoofed IPs?
Actually if GPG wanted to really do this they could just go ahead and use the nationality of your Impulse account.
Well as said by the poster if its optional to show your flag or not then its fine 
I think atm there a lot bigger problems but after those are storted there is no reason why this couldnt be implemented.
