Bad CRC after purchasing online - cant unzip/install :(

Hi,

Loved the demo - purchased the download. Downloaded .zip gives me "Bad CRC error". Tried twice over broadband connection.

Is there a support hotline? The sales number is being picked up by a fax?

Nobody to talk to in chat here on Stardock... I really dont want to wait 5 days for the CD to arrive.

Any ideas how to get help? Thanks,

Have you tried restarting your computer yet? Sometimes when I download zip files, I get an error message when I try to unzip it until I restart.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it. Still getting:

Extracting to "C:\temp\"

bad CRC 033e812c (should be 64f09ca6)

Actually what I wanted was to buy the game using my desktop with broadband and then put it on my laptop, since this looks like a great game for travel time. So I was hoping to transfer the .zip file over.

Actually install over Stardock just worked but trying to install the big Multi-media add failed on last file. Not sure if it got installed properly or not - the Stardock shows this module still available for download. How do I check if I got what I am suppose to ? Are there cut-scenes ?

First colony, first anomoly/space junk picked up, should both have small cutscenes. There are alot more, but those are the first you would see. Plus the starting movie, and the game music. Trying to install it again may make it pick up where it left off, I believe stardock central has resume capabilities.

Well, managed to install the multimedai pack over Stardock, indeed I was missing all the eye candy (which I quite like).

However, still unable to get my .zip file, so can't play on my laptop :( :sniff!: No answer from my mail to tech support ?!

What unzipping program are you using? I tried putting it on a laptop once but it didnt work right, I have another much newer one that is supposedly as fast as my computer, (2Ghz, 512 ram 40GB, hardrive)Hope it works on your laptop.

I am using WinZip 8.0. Downloaded the file 4 times - every time I try to unzip it has the CRC error. I downloaded quite a few large files over the same connection and no bad CRC on others.

Feels like the actual file on the server is corrupt? Could it be? I just downloaded some large shareware zips just to test and they unpack OK. :notsure:

Well you wouldnt get the cut scene for the first anomaly pick-up if you have your survey ship set on auto-survey. Or maybe its just me, cause I have never seen it, and I also have anomaly pop-ups disabled.

Try deleteing the zip file you have and clearing your browser cache and try again (in IE, Tools|Internet Options|Delete Files).
