Edit: I noticed that no arena was selected by default. After I choose one the problem goes away.

Im having this issue as well. I'm playing on Windows XP Pro at 1440x900. UPDATE: As  mentioned by the above poster, noticed GUI bug would disappear as soon as an arena had been selected.

OK, my bad.

This bug only happens when you upgrade from beta 2D to beta 3, and forget to delete your Demigod Preferences from your My Games folder.

Same thing happens to me.  I was like wtf?  doesn't gpg beta test at all...

 

just delete your my games folder in my documents.

I had this problem the very first time I logged into the new build. Screen set to 1920*1200, Vista Home Pro. Graphics card nVidia 8800 GT. As others have said, picking an arena solved the problem.
