The mod team have explained why they aren't going to make the mod for the original game several times already and it's not like they're going to change their decision for you. It's alot of effort to create a superb mod like this in the first place but I really doubt the team have the man power to create new versions of the mod for different versions of the game.

Also the fact that Entrenchment is peanuts price wise and offers so much extra content should make it a no brainer that you should have it. I'm not trying to insult you dtrford12 but I would strongly advise that you try with everything in your power to get entrenchment.

yes there will be no longer any updates for Sins of A Solar Empire

the mod will only be for Sins of A Solar Empire : Entrenchment from now on

 

Beta Testers -- Please take a look at the excelsior class starships and the research (this will explain why it has moved to its current level)

Known bug -- While testing certain people kept crashing around 15 / 20mins in to the game. This is down to your graphics card drivers update them and this will eliminate this mini dump issue 

This problem mainly affects people with Nvidia graphics cards

I have said before that older versions of sins would not be supported with the mod. Every patch breaks the mod and it has to be re-built from scratch damn near every time sins itself is updated. Now we have Entrenchment. As loki said it is a no brainer why you should get it. Its dirt cheap, adds so much to the game, and has much more content. Which benefits SoA 2 tremendously.

We have said we would not update the mod for regular sins anymore, because there really is no point to. Plus we are only 3 active members with a few more supporting us from time to time (greatly appreciated BTW).

If we had a full crew (10 or more people both modelers, and code monkeys) helping on a full time basis then 2 versions could be possible, but i dont see it happening. Especially since all the offers for mod help i got were "i cant mod, but i can give you suggestions to death".

Yeah I wish I could help code or something but i've had too little experience from programming classes.

 

If you guys need another tester I've sadly had a lot more experience with that. X|

well tbh it does not take much to learn how to code for sins well 8 months ago i never even knew sins existed let alone how to mod or even model, granted my skills are still somewhat lacking :P but they are getting better just wait till you see the borg unicomplex muahahaha (will post a picture of it eventually)

all you need to mod for sins is a text editing file like word or notepad++ etc and just change the stuff in the files that is how i learnt by trial and error and as for creating models i just got XSI mod tools 6 and taught my self from you tube videos etc you dont need some fancy degree or to take classes to mod for sins :)

yes when SoA 2 is released for Entrenchment which we hope will be soon it will have starbases etc however if they will be trek style starbases that is another matter, as stress is the only one who can both model (really really well i might add) and create textures and as we know he is away atm 

so obviously we are looking for a few more people that can model and create textures that can match the standard of what has been done allready !

but it will deffo have entrenchment sins style starbases just upgraded so they are effective within the mod.

well most of the fed star base are easy cause they are symetical but ds9 which is one of the ones I am try program my self is taking a make toll on myself

I mostly got the ring but the docking ports are quite hard, given i am program from notepad and using autodesk part time lol, and since the model isn't done yet, textures hasn't even come close

Haven't posted in awhile but I have been keeping track of this mod in anticipation. I look forward to playing it! I also just updated my graphics card drivers just to be sure I am ready. Keep up the great work guys!

We need the Federation, Klingon, and Romulan stuctures finished 1st. The Dominion are going to use primarily Cardassian structures (Nor Station, shipyards, SB, OWP, etc.) Non canon stuff will have to be created using our imaginations.

You heard Shimmer beta testers.. Get it done ;)

well we kinda know what cardassian ships yards will look like, I think the episode when kira and the resistance goes to one and steals a breen weapon, that one was a cardassian shipyard/factory

that is more of a dominon yard than cardassian and that model is more complex that the one i am suggest but it depends on what the team decides

OK than, I just played the Federation for the first time today, and I have a few comments to make/questions to ask,

 

Firstly, as a bug I found after researching the repair platform, I was neither able to build it, nor wwere any of my shipyards able to repair.  This is pretty major, because it will seriously change the balance of the game if the federation can't repair their ships (but I'm guessing that this is just a bug).

 

Upgraded shield emitters is mispelled (you guys have "sheild" instead of shield).

 

There are absolutely no craft that can capture mining extractors (such as those in nebula clouds), not sure if this is purposeful, but if klingons have it, I think Federation should have it.

 

I love the fact that you left almost every single Capital ship with abilities they can use.  Really changes the game a lot to have a use for that darn anti-matter.

 

The Federation starbases look fantastic guys.  Way to go and I can tell you put someeffort into them, just onw quick question though, are you guys going to give us bases for the starbases as well (like the ones the special new ships in entrenchment build), or are you going to stay with the ones that entrenchment has already?  Also, are you going to replace the ship that builds those kind of starbases with a Star Trek equivalent (I am thinking this is all in the works, but it couldn't hurt to ask)?

 

I also love the fact that you renamed some of the researches to be more "Trek like", adds a better feel to the game.

 

As for the rest of these, they are more of suggestions, rather than findings:

 

The Torpedoe and Shield research for the Federation is WAY too pricey (I spent most of my time researching technologies to build craft, rather than the actual research to build the craft), might want to cut their prices in half if you want games to get to battles quicker.

 

The Excelsior Refitis more expensive to research than either the Galaxy Class or Sovereign Class, and requires "Quantum Torpedoe's" researched.  This doesn't make any sense at all, since it is the lowest level Capital ship, you might want to drop the "Quantum Torpedoe" research and cut the price in half.

 

Without any sort of Mining Station or anything similar that boosts mining resources, I found myself heavily lacking in the resource department and spending most of my credits purchasing things from the "Black Market".  In the T.V. series, there are multiple references to new mining techniques that the Federation is researching, don't you think they should have something that allows them to increase this resource?

 

Finally, without any basic training, it took FOREVER! to level my Capital ships.  Shouldn't the Federation have a "Basic Training" research item titled something like "Star fleet academy"?

 

Thanks again sooo much for allowing me to join in on this, and I hope that some of these suggestions don't sound too picky (I'm just giving my honest opinion).  I mean you guys are doing great for a staff of 3.5, and like I said before, if you need a code monkey, by all means I'm your man.  Anywho thanks again and sorry for all the inane babbling, hopefully you guys can look into some of this stuff and make the proper adjustments where YOU see fit.

We are aware of this bug. Repair platforms are being removed shortly as drydocks will be taking over this function.

this is currently being worked on. we want the battles to go slow, research will make it faster!

the histroy of the lokota class is an important update to the game. Yes its the lowest capital class. however the upgrades are what shine the ship and this is being refined more.

since you get no bonuses from leveling other than abilities leveling ship right now is not as important as balance, movement, and structures. This will be updated later with the final stats just before the first release.
