Quoting FearlessDefiance, reply 21One more quick question, is there any plans on giving cap ships abilities?

Thanks
Yes. Much of the Elites ability's are still in planning, or are in work.

Major Stress uploaded a video demonstraiting the new dynamic movement of SoA2 find it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BArQFkRsSp0

Main topic also updated with link.
Ships look a little fast for supposedly titanic warships. Maybe slowing them down a bit (course I haven't seen what changes you've made to Grav well sizes). Other than that, EPIC.

I'm not a total trek nerd, but mirandas are relatively small ships I think. it would not be unreasonable for them to be faster/ more maneuverable. I'd certainly support your opinion if it was an akira or some other larger ship. might be toned down a bit, but without much of the context, it's probably not much use demanding this or that.

Execllent work!!!!!!      when this is finished it wont be a mod but a game in and of itself!!!   Unfortunately  Star Trek  games have been historicallly bad with few execptions,  this mod might get some attention.  Pateince is going to be hard till this is done.

p.s.   have u guys thought about adding some NuTrek units or more specifically the new Tution?

Just watch the film Star Trek the Wrath of Kahn to see how the Mirandas move in combat. You guys have done a fantastic job so far. Great movement effects (very realistic) and lovely screens. Like the Borg Starbase too.

Oh, and, the Mirandas are destroyers, so very small compared to a Sovereign or Galaxy (Battleships)

Oh and also, just an idea for the future maybe, is using the Sabre Class Instead of the Curry or something like that. It certainly fits the SoA time period and it looks really cool. Just an idea for a far future update maybe.

This is not only meant to you Tyras, but to the entire mod community and team.

DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT WHAT SHIP TYPE IS WHAT.  THERE ARE PLENTY OF IN GAME SHIPS TO CONVERT FROM VANILLA SINS TO STAR TREK SHIPS.

Sorry about that, but now on to my weekly review of the upgrades to the beta.

First, I am glad that you have been posting all your changes to the changelog Loki, it makes it a lot easier to know what NOT to look for.

I think you should know that I like the new name changes for the researches (especially the Vulcan one).

Also great job on the new skin for the turrets.  Looks much better.

I also noticed that the enemy builds a lot more turrets around their planets (which is especially a pain when you are fighting the federation, because their turrets have A LOT of shields and Hit points.

I couldn't find too much other to point out, since you have been making periodic changes to the game throughout the week.  I just wanted you guys to know your doing a terrific job and I can only hope the great headway made over the past couple of weeks can continue on at it's current pace.

As for a lot of you in the community who keep asking the same questions over and over, I just want to say READ THE PREVIOUS PAGES OF POST BEFORE YOU ASK QUESTIONS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED.

Forgive me for asking this has its been a while since i have done this.   I cant remember where the mod folder is at for the vanilla of this mod.  i have looked in the game to see where it is at but i still cant find it.  also i am using windows 7 beta rc.

thanks

BETA TESTERS: New movement is in i need a test and post of findings please ASAP!

axalon_30 the mod path for vista & windows 7 is C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-v1.16 for sins 1.16, for 1.15 it is C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods

NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , so to see them you must first open control panel then 'folder options', then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktop

WOW! Great job Darkshimmer.  I love the new movements because there is no more torpedo towing going on anymore.  Great job again and no complaint here (other than the obvious some ships still getting chased out of gravwell, but not as often anymore).

I also agree great job Darkshimmer. Looks good , fleets work better together and the experience is almost seamless.  The only thing i did notice is a little bit of ships bumping into eachother from time to time however that was only when i had 60+ ships in a fleet,. But no issues with it here either . 5*

hello everyone . Been watching how is the mod progressing and must say exelent work peaple. From last time I posted I started modeling myself a bit ( first contact with these things ) and build a chair, table and now I am fighting a war with  Terok Nor ( maybe too ambitious for my third model). I will poste a picture of what have I done so maybe if will find its place in this MEGA mod :)  if it is good enough ofcousrse . Still working on docking ring, habitat ring and some details on core structure. Allso need to learn how to put textures and inplement it into the game. Wish me luck :)

That's looking quite good Besla, what toolset are you building it with?

I'm thinking of doing some modelling and maybe texturing in my spare time, which I'll have a lot of soon.

he is using XSI Mod Tools 6 from the screen shot but it could be XSI Mod Tools 7.5 (i use mod tool 6 but got 7.5 today) both versions are free btw

Nice model so far ! All the stations etc have been planned for the factions however not all of them have been made yet some more federation stations (some that have been made are awating textures) will be entering the mod soon

Testers, please check on the Emperor and its new ability, its not complete, just needs tweaking. Restrictions removed for play testing.

Have you guys done the Research side of things for Star Trek ?

The new movements look good, I didn't see any bugs at all with it.

The Emperor's new ability gives it the firepower I always thought it was lacking. I noticed it looks very similar to the new Romulan disruptor.

The torperdoes all look good and work well at their new speed, especially IMO the romulan torpedoes.

The Klingon defense turret was well done. It's added torpedo ability also works well.

Beautiful pics BTW Darkshimmer, and as for the Emperor, I don't know if it's just me, but the new ability (Cleansing Brilliance?) doesn't seem to be functioning right to me.  I can see them start to use it, it uses up antimatter, but there are no effects to go with the shot whatsoever.  I also noticed that cloak has been brought back (sort of) into the fold.  I just want to know if there are going to be any other ships that use that in the Klingon arsenal?  Memory Alpha lists not only the B'rel, but the K'vort, Negh'var, Vor'cha, and D-7 (which oddly enough they have listed as in the service of the Romulan Star Empire?).  Not to mention the Romulan's D'deridex and Valdore (I think that one was used, been so long I can't remember!!).  You can see for yourself at:

I have to also agree with Dragoon here, your torpedo effects are definitely impressive.  And as for the turrets, I am glad they are on par with the Federation ones (for a long tim the Fed's had turrets that were 1/3 the hit points of stations!?!)

All I can say is, I am impressed to see such great progress so far, and as you said, keep tweaking that new ability and the rest of the Klingons so they can catch up with the progress made by the Federation.  Best of luck and Happy Memorial Day!

i only have the brel fitted for testing. Remember the Emperor is just using a modified version of cleansing brilliance i created. The icon and string will change later.
