Postpone release date

To make the current release date of April 14 the game should be almost gold by now, and it's far from it.

Before I talk about drawbacks, let me say it's the most beautiful game I've seen so far, really very beautiful. The action is straightforward and addictive, though there are questions about the long run. The idea of a persistent pantheon scene is good.

However, some issues need to be improved before release :

Stability : Alt-tab state still crashes occasionally. Also, dialog screens sometimes stall for minutes.

Multiplayer : Still doesn't work for everyone. For me and others, 3C is even worse than 3B.

Balance : Not nearly worked out. Skilled players will rip through it in a flash, the rest of the community will follow, and the demigod usage distribution chart will be very uneven. At least another month of intensive play with several hundreds of players is needed, with fine-tuning every week or two. If the game goes out like this, you will need to reset the pantheon rankings several times before the balance is settled.

Diversity : Many abilities and most items are currently not valid. So are most Citadel upgrades.

Pantheon : Not nearly worked out, and is not likely to achieve the lasting appeal it is supposed to create. The favor item system is still crude and with few good options. For example, the items could interact with style of play, map, and demigod type. The point system still needs some work. For example, there are points for damage inflicted but not for healed or prevented. Playing for the team rather than for a personal score is still a problem.

Here's hoping for a great game, Cheers :)

Havn't stardock said that at release (with the day 0 patch I'd assume) We're getting friends lists and clans and all that stuff?

Some of you give Basement dwelling comic book guys a really bad name.

I love how magically you guys know what state a game is supposed to be in a month or more before release even though 99% of games don't even have public betas at all.

Give your egos a rest.

I remember reading this kind of bullshit during the Sins of a Solar Empire beta. Boy did that game flop. NOT.

xan...  btw...  i love Sins of a Solar Empire and think it's prob the best strat game that has come out in long while but everytime i log on there are 20-40 players online.  The only thing I could think of was the lack of commuity or length of the game.   Demigod shortened the length to 20 - 30 min...  which is perfect for the casual gamer, but is still missing the community aspect that keeps people around.  Maybe Impulse is the awsner...  I really hope so...  I joined this forum to talk about the community aspects of the game because I truely believe that this game might reach levels of community based play such as COD4, CS, Warcraft3...  where you never have to wait around for 30mins in an empty lobby looking for a game (which has happened to me all the time with Sins)

Its illusionary that Demigod can get a online community of the size of  CS or Warcraft III, however something between 2000 to 4000 people online at the same time is certainly possible if they do it right (and the reviews are good). 2000 to 4000 is good enough to always find a game, not always play vs the same guys and to do proper matchmaking without having the skill gaps between different teams to big.

TBO, I would certainly hope the size of the online community was a bit larger than that... Take Dawn of war 2 for example. The online charts started off at like 20k and over the past month it has gone down to 7k or so... This is with numerous bugs, crashes, etc hitting that game and being quite annoying :P...Plus extremely slow developer patch-responses to the issues.

Having a "stable" 4000 online community-size would be fine, but given how a vast number will play it for 1-2 weeks and then get tiered of it and move on... I certainly hope we start off with over 10k people online at the same time...

Ragarth, wasn't that the numbers of total player online and as steam needs you to be online also included singleplayer. Dawn of War 1 has not much more than 1500 players online at the same time I think. 10.000 online at the same time is Red Alert 3 + Age of Empires 3 + C&C 3 together at their best times, so its illusionary or at least incredibly unlikely.

also 4000 online at the same time means around 75000 to 100.000 active players which is more than enough.
