Open / Demo or something?

Im a pretty common reader of PC magazine, last year when I saw demigod I was like "this looks sick I should check it out" however I assed around and never got around to preordering it. My last few purchases for games have been well, disapointing even though many have said it was going to be great. I was wondering since this game is coming out soon would stardock consider / have you considered to open up beta for a few days? Or perhaps even have a demo map a 1v1 game on 1 map with a computer just to let us get a feel for it... Because as it is I really want to play this game but I cant say my wallet to fun factor has not been playing so well.

Thanks to whoever reads this.

There will be a demo after release, thought when is unknown. They aren't gonna open the beta or anything its pretty much over at this point they're doing private (Company only) Gamma testing now.

Typically Stardock demos run a month or so after release.

I think this does a few things:

  1. It allows the devs to focus 100% on the released game.  No resources are wasted.
  2. It allows the demo to have the full codebase to work within.  The demo is better than it might have been.
  3. It rewards those who pre-ordered.  I dig that part.  They believed in us . . they get to play sooner than the non-believers.  ;)

Yes that would be correct but they would loose thousands of would be customers that can't quite make their mind up.

Well I preordered where is my beta. I now feel that I got robed as I have paid for something that I don't know if i still want it any more. Very dissapointed that i didn't get into the beta. THQ would never of treated its customers this bad.

You didn't get robbed, you don't get anything early if you preorder anywhere else (Gamestop for instance).  Buyer's remorse. I don't know from how THQ treats people, but you aren't being treated bad.  In fact you haven't technically been charged yet, you will be on release day.

Those people can still get the demoand the game.  It's nota lsot sale; it *might* be a deferred sale.  No loss, right?

You have not lost anything either.  The open and close periods were posted on the forums.  You will, however, be able to download the game on release day in your PJs if you want.  You are still a winner.  :)
