Best Way To Determine Rankings On Ladder?

So what do you guys think is the best way to determine rankings on the ladder?

Should it be the win/loss ratio?
Most experience?
Most Favour Points?
ELO System?

And question to Devs:
What method will you use to calculate the rankings on the ladder?

The Experience tag is the Elo rating and is the default ranking system used.

Oh nice.

I thought the "experience" tag was the total amount of experience you had got with your demigods.
Elo system is nice :)

There are lots of really complicated mathematical forumlas to explain it...but basically i dont understand it and its really complicated so ill give you a rough explanation:
Player X has 1000 points
Player Y has 1000 points

Player X wins vs Player Y...Ratings will now roughly look something like this
Player X has 1010 points
Player Y has 990 points

now imagine Player X (now on 1050) plays a noob who has a rating of 100 (player Z).
Player X plays agaisnt Player Z and wins, ratings will know look like this:
Player X has 1051 points
Player Z has 99 points.

IF Player Z had won though, ratings would look like this:
Player X 1000 points
Player Z 150 points

K that wasnt so simple. Basically, Players with high ratings that beat players with low ratings will get very few points. However, players with lower ratings that beat players with high ratings will get lots of points (reward for beating a better player) and the higher player will also lose lots of points.

No that was fairly easy to follow. Except where you said he gets more points for beating a noob then he does for beating and equal but I think thats a typo :P Thanks for clearing that up :)

haha np..
And yea meant player X after he had got his 50 extra points..w/e edited it in though.

The only problem with the system though is when players make new "smurf" accounts that start of with a rating of 1000 again (thats the default rating everyone starts with) and player the other players who have 2000 and then beat them, the player with the higher rating loses A LOT more points than he should do.

And also with EaW (Empire at War) when someone who disconect vs you it would sometimes report as the other guy winning and you losing, so you would lose a hella of lotta points for doing nothing. Im counting on this ladder though to detect disconects properly :)
