What was your first "Wow!" moment in Demigod?

Share your stories and screenshots!

Hello!

By this point, a lot of you have picked up early copies from GameStop, or have been in the beta test for some time.  The rest of you are just a day or so away from diving in and pitting your Rook against an enemy Torchbearer in epic gladitorial combat.  Tournaments are about to begin, and ascension is at hand!

Now, I've been playing Demigod for a long time now (almost a year!) and while the game still impresses me with its visuals, fast gameplay and fun multiplayer matches, I'm probably a little bit too close to the project to be as dazzled as I was when the first build landed on my desk.

With so many of you new to Demigod, I'd love to hear about your first "Wow!" moment with the game.  Was it watching the Rook lumber over and crush an enemy with one mighty blow of his hammer?  Maybe it was sending a small army of angry spirits after your opponent as The Oak.  Sound off with stories of the first time playing the game where you just sat back and went "Damn, that was cool!"  Post screenshots if you have them!

My first moment? Watching The Rook wade into a sea of creeps, with arrows and beams of light firing every which way, and clearing them all with one hammer strike, sending the little guys flying off the edges of the map.

I can't wait to hear what your moments were.

My first WOW OMG ZOMG FFS LOL moment (emphasis) was when I zoomed in on the Torchbearer. Amazing graphics.

My second WOW OMG ZOMG FFS LOOOOOOOOL moment (emphasis x2) was the ... almost eerie calm on the battlefield after a frost nova. A forest of frozen stuff. If it was there for even just a moment, I will remember it forever.

Edit: I am not actually new to the game, but this is the stuff I remember from when I was.

for me that would be the game as Torchbearer where I first realized how powerful the freeze spells + shatter is. I loved how I dominated that game. I soon realized however that I had been playing against AI:s and that it wasn't nearly as easy to do against real opponents.

The first time I played a custom game with only human opponents was a real treat for me as well :)

My first "WOW!" moment was playing as Torchbearer and using Fire Nova.  Watching the exlosion and flames was amazing plus the satisfaction of seeing all of the poor minotaurs fly off the edge.

My second moment was looking closely at Regulus' crossbow.  That thing is ... incredible.

This right here is mine as well. I would just sit there and laugh as the minataurs went flying.

I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't played the full game yet, but the final level of the single player tournament made me zoom out and go "WOW" as well.

My first "wow!" moment came the 2nd game I played as the rook.  I leveled up his archer tower ability, and I couldn't believe how cool all the arrows raining down on the enemies looked.  Just a constant barrage of dozens and dozens of arrows.

I think just loading up beta 1 for the first time and seeing Cataract (or Waterfall as it was called back then) from the skies was the first wow-moment I had :)

1st: Impreesive trailer. QoT taunting Rook was great.

2nd: Seeing Waterfall (Cataract) and Reg's Crossbow. Excellent designs.

3rd: First time I used Angelic Fury, way back in Beta 1. I happened to be zoomed in at a low angle, and so had creeps flying past the screen.

Sadly I have yet to experience this after doezens of games I played.  I can only play this only on low settings and don't really see those arrows that well.

My first WoW moment would be boulder roll and hammer slam getting a double smite kill.

Exactly the Same.

My Second wow:
Seeing The Rook after Oak places his shield on him. Metal Rook looked cool :)

My Third wow:
Realising there was no replay system with retail version lol

My wow factor (during beta at least, still waiting on final) came from the sense of scale. Even though all the models look pretty small while your playing, it still feels like your unleashing huge "demigod-y" powers and stuff.

I think it's because even though everything looks small while playing, the textures are really detailed, so it just looks like your really high up, rather than looking like the models themselves are small.

Anyways, it's a very cool effect.

My first WOW was when I was fooling around with Regulus getting a feel for the game.  I had an absurd number of attack speed power ups and managed to get him to level 20.  He held a crossroads against wave after wave, eating grunts and demigods alike when they came into his field of death.  I really like the balance that the game has, if you build up and out-tech the enemy, an assasin really becomes like a dervish of death, dealing out those face poundings to anyone that comes near.  It makes you feel like... well... like a god.

managed to get him to level 30

Level cap is 20 :D :D

I'd say my first wow moment was when I first played the game and saw how detailed everything was. The models and textures and animations looked really good and the special effects were especially impressive.

Reg's Crossbow

You sank my battleship :(

But yeah, seeing Regulus ingame was my first WOW moment. I knew I was going to like him from his background and description, so seeing him ingame was the sort of "oh yeah, this kicks ass" feeling.

Regulus sniping across the the whole map and kill the other dg at his cristal

That was one of mine too.

Other wow moments:

The first time I figured out that the giant demon trapped in the Prison map will follow you with his eyes

watching Rook crumble when he dies

watching a minotaur fall off the map

First time I saw a triple smite in a multiplayer game

when I saw the exile level.   That level pushed a good button for me.

Mine was when i first got into a game. It looks amazing and was a lot of fun to play. so far i enjoy playing Oak, Rook and Torch guy(forgot the rest of his name). i love their abilities and how they sound.

Torch Bearer. Remember it. For it will be your end.

My first wow moment was when I was sitting in the office at work with my friend and looking at upcoming releases on ebgames.com and seeing "Demigod" and remembering that we hadn't touched it sinec Beta 1 when the stupid rook was so ridiculously OP that he could chain stun people from a mile away for hours on end.

I made a joke I don't remember in regards to ordering the game and then we both belatedly realized we had already pre-ordered it and the joke about buying it was no longer funny.

First wow would probably be with the general epic-ness of the Rook. Close runner-ups would be Regulus and Torch-Bearer.

Second wow would be today, loading it up after forgetting about it, eager to play the final version. The 'wow' moment refers to how long it now takes to load, now takes for a game to start despite loading, and now takes for anything you do to actually have an impact on the slideshow it has now become.

Playing my first all Rook match as Queen of Thorns and feeling oh so alone. Seriously though, Rook needs to be bigger. And his summoned towers should be called Pawns and be half his size, hehe.

Just got done with my first Demigod game! Single player skirmish; played as the oak. My wow moment was that is ran like butta! No seriously when my Oak lvled up and had a swarm of ghosts at his disposal. It was a good first impression.
