Framedrops

hi, I just got demigod and I must say I absolutely love the game, the only problem is, when i'm playin for about 5 minutes, the frames begin to drop from about 30 to 10, all my specs are on lowest and these are the specifications of my pcµ

i have the same problem ,the game is stuttering and it becomes unplayable because of that,had settings on low and still it stuttered....anybody know how to fix this?

When it occurs does it every get better again, or does the framerate stay bad permanently? After 5-15 seconds the framerate goes back to normal for me. And it didn't happen at all in beta.

using a laptop? Most likely cause would be the CPU or GPU getting very hot and throttling itself so it doesn't melt. Try improving the ventilation underneath the lappy and see if that helps.

I would agree with Hallow Man. Most fans draw heat from under the unit. Do you have a solid surface under your laptop? Is air flowing? Does your laptop have proper space around it to promote air flow?

I'm having the same problem with the games fps dropping fast as hell about a minute after starting a game. Same specs but I'm running a desktop... it ain't cooling its something to do with the game. Hell now I can't even get past the the movie intros thanks to the latest patch.. ugh mental note: Do not buy games until a few weeks after they are out.

Just let the game sit after the intro. It's getting hung up, but it will eventually get to the main menu.

I agree that the framerate slowdowns are something to do with the game. Like I said earlier, this did not happen with the beta, but happens too regularly for me when I play the SP campaign. Something inexplicable just happens which causes the framerate to drop unexpectedly for a bit, then the game recovers, and then it's fine. And repeat.

Nor does mine, and I run most current titles with very decent framerates. There is something seriously borked right now. The game loads perfectly, gets into gameplay, and after about 1 - 2 minutes the framerates start falling. After about 5 minutes of play the fps hits 0, but I can still hear my hero moving around and it sounds like I'm still able to issue commands.

I haven't come across and real solutions so far, so I'd consider this a pretty big disappointment right now.

demigod.exe /nosound

If it improves a lot then its a problem that exists since beta 2 and was never really adressed by GPG.

I too think it has something to do with the sound drivers. I'm having the same problems, but I run a desktop with an ATI 4850 Pro, 2 GB Ram, AMD Dual core 4400+. I can run other major titles with no issues but I get massive stuttering in Demigod.

Right click on the shortcut and pick properties, then add /nosound to the end of the Target line.

If I run without sound I get no framedrops whatsoever. Game runs great, even with all settings cranked up to high. Thanks for the help Kyro. Any plans to look into the audio bug? I've tried updating my drivers but I don't think SoundMax has/will put out any newer drivers for my chip set. I have a SoundMax HD Audio AD1986A. I think some others with SoundMax audio were experiencing trouble too.

Would just like to say that I had big fps problems and the /nosound worked perfectly. Without sound i can run the game on highest resolution with all options turned to high (which is impresiv since my computer isnt really top notch). I hope the sound problems gets fixed. My sound is integrated in the motherboard.

Stats: MB - MSI K8N SLI, sound chip Realtek AC 97

Tried with both drivers from MSI (which were rather old) and with drivers from Realtek (from late 2008) and it made no difference, slow and choppy with sound on and perfectly smooth with /nosound. Hope you find the problem!

Hurray for demigod's with no sound! What I did and worked for me was that for some reason if I switch my speaker set-up to headphones (I run quadraphonic normally) it seems to eliminate the problem. You still get sound, just glorious stereo instead of 5.1.
