Amazon is selling Demigod for US$ 64,00 in Germany!

Demigod sells for € 49,95 on Amazon.de, thats roughly $64,00 and this is NOT the Collectors Edition you get via Impulse from Stardock. The best offer from a dubious little company was €41,98 ($53.75). The Euro is really not that strong atm compared to the Dollar. When I ordered my copy from Stardock before the beta started, it would have been about $75,00!!!

So either Atari or Amazon are screwing us over like theres no tomorrow, my money is on both of them. Just for comparison, the same version on Amazon.co.uk costs £ 24,95 thats ~ US$ 37,40. Unfortunately we cant buy on Amazon.co.uk 'because they are having technical problems to deliver to Germany atm' (it worked just fine for the past few years though), or to put it bluntly: 'FRACK YOU, bend over already and give us all your money NOAW!!!11one!'

And this is why I like Stardock, Impulse and Frogboy a little better every day. Please keep up the good work and make sure your products are available in Germany and can be pruchased with Pay Pal. (We dont believe in credit cards here and Pay Pal is usually the easiest way to get you guys (y)our money.)

I dont expect any official comment from Stardock on the pricing policy of a developer they are working with, but I think you guys should know. Did I mention that the PC game market is rather strong in Germany compared to lets say the USA? And we really like strategy games, ask GPG if you dont believe me.

I, for one, welcome our new digital overlords.

it's strange, amazon.FR sells the game at 39,99€.

Anyway, if you want the best price, you just have to buy the digital edition directly from this website.

Well I used my credit card and afaik you can also use paypal now since its not preorder anymore to get it straight drom impulse and it cost me 30,37 and it was 39,99$ so its actually cheaper and you can download and play now and the copy at amazon.de will be available on April 7

I got a good deal on my preorder just before beta 1 started but if somebody buys the game on Amazon now...

Unfortunately Pay Pal payment doesnt work for all the games on Impulse. There was a weekend sale for Soulstorm a while back and I couldnt buy it via Pay Pal, so that was a lost sale. Some games cant be bought from German users (Witcher Enhanced Ed.).

Thats two lost sales so far, Stardock, please work on that... B)

Other than digital downloads (MP3) from Amazon, I really do not purchase from their site.  Everytime I head there, things are really really overpriced.  For the Amazon price, I can purchase at roughly the same price from a local store (after shipping costs).  Majority of the time, I actually just stick to eBay, where there seems to be more competition and better deals.

Germany, like most Europeans countries, has a 18-21% VAT which explains the price compared to the US one. In any case, whenever possible, buy online in $ (US) or £ (UK) if you are living in Europe.

I could live with 20% more but its more like 50%...

Amazon is a great source for English books though, they are a lot cheaper than your average retail book store. H&S is free for books and I can browse in peace and quiet in a much larger collection.

Which brings me back to Impulse: Its a great idea, I love how you can easily update and manage your games - but its still an adventure to actually buy a game! Either it doesnt let me pay for it or some other company decides not to sell to parts of Europe or the game Im interested in is just not available via Impulse.

I really would like to support Impulse and recommend it to other players in the SupCom community (whats left of it), but atm there are too few really good games you can actually buy, most of them published by Stardock.

it doesn't explain the different prices between France and Germany.

Anyway, unless you want the boxed collector edition, you should consider buying the digital one.

I would never have thought of buying demigod if it wasnt there for roughly 30€ at Impulse

Yep, saw it some days ago. I think we all got a steady internet connection, so we dont need the boxed version and can order it online :)

30€ digital download is a fair price imho.

Welcome to the wonderfull Europe. After the 1$=1euro, now it's 1$=2euro? Too bad you can't buy from UK (have you try play.com?) they prices are low and actualy we have some advantage with the euro.

amazon.co.uk is much about the same price, if you transfer it in euro, like impulse. about 30€. If you add shipping, Impulse still is cheaper for germans

France retail box version is still at Pre-Order price, the game being officially released only in May there (localisation delay). Once officially released, it will be 50 euros, just like Germany.

You are comparing digital version at 40$ with retail box at 50 euros.

The fair comparison is 50$ retail box vs 50 euros European box which, again, includes VAT while US version does not.

You aren't arguing the good point.

Demigod is simply overpriced for what it offers compared to other games, even in its 40$ digital version.

I wrote the first demigod review on amazon.de two days ago. It contained 6 paragraphs describing the game + 1 paragraph mentioning that it’s only 30,- on impulse.

Amazon posted the first 6 paragraphs :(

Not sure what's going on across the Atlantic, but Amazon US currently sells Demigod for US$35.
