loaded game 3 times.. all fail

ok Stardock.. I'm VERY pissed.. I loaded the game !!3!! Times and 2 of them were because the resuming of the download was too far from the last loading. Ok you would normally say but there is one prob.. I have wireless internet and this wireless internet has a 5GB limit so what do we have? yes my connection is now limited and I can't help it with outsiders because I'm the only freaking one with Vista 64 x_x yes so noone can archive(Impulse archive file) the game for me and i can't download it either.

Soooooooooo now I have a solution: I need the files for Vista 64 or just Vista I don't know if that is a difference between the files.. so Stardock can you somehow make that happen plz or do I have to return the game?

I was so happy that I could buy it online and now that is just dumb :(

Edit: The proxy at my workplace forbids Impulsdriven so I can't even use software from there. The only ways to get files from impulsedriven now are all connected with me losing more money (already spent much free time and 10$ to DL it) so if I want to use a method that isn't using my money than it has to be a solution without Impulsedriven

The installation is not specific for Vista x64. If you have access to a different computer on a different internet connection you can download a full installation for the game using Impulse Anywhere.

http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/

Login and it should allow you to download the game, which you can then put on a flash drive, or burn to a DVD and install on your computer. Then you just need to use Impulse to patch.

Where did you get the game? You're not listed in our database.

I bought it with paypal with the purchase button on www.demigodthegame.com

the thing is my paypal email is [email protected] and not [email protected] but I already registrated it with 2 impulses(laptop and desktop) that are running on my t-online email

ok my next effort also failed: I went to a colleague from work and he gave me an Impulse archive file of DEmigod with the new updates and yeeees it was Vista(x64) and guess what.. my Impulse said me: "archive could not be restored"....... eh ok.. WHAT?!

First this crappy program can't continue at 99.8% of the DL(very bad coding) and now I can't restore an archive which was totally working at my collegues place??!!(even worse coding) who made this impulse?!

I can't restore an archive which was totally working at my collegues place?
End of quote

If someone packs up an archive of their current install, it will be specific to that OS and user. If your coworker can download the Impulse Anywhere archives, you should be able to use those.

New Status:

I've figured that having an account that is different email named than your purchase email is a bad idea so what did I do? Yes I made a new account and VOILÁ there we actually See something at anywhere.impulsedriven.com not just empty space.. ah yes and btw it works fine without impulse just copying  the demigod directory from my laptop(something like lol)

so I'll need to spend my co-workers time with downloading the install files now so I can play online

I have the same problem, along with so many problems with Impulse since they booted my 120% satisfaction level with TotalGaming.net out the door that I still don't buy new products from them until I feel stable with the software (still not yet, otherwise I would not have to post this.), and the same situation : I've had a 5GB cap wireless connection, also. Luckily it was recently clarified to my by Sprint that my unlimited account was unlimited and grandfathered in, after they spent a year threatening all kinds of action on a 5GB cap despite an unlimited account. So after discussion on my LAST trouble ticket (amongst about a dozen since opening of Impulse) the knowledgable representative clarified to me that 'Download and Archive' would download a completely OS neutral installation of the program (please, don't tell me he was wrong.....) so I wiped all my installs and begun downloading all of these from scratch.

I am about 9/10 through my 20-something games and I hit Demigod. Downloaded it /3/ times fresh and I get the same error : "The archive could not be restored" when trying to Restore ARchive on the downloaded Demigod archive file (Demigod1.00.055_04.25.2009.impulse).

I am going to try this Impulse anywhere option, but really... Why would those be two different files : OS neutral via Impulse installable by Impulse vs OS neutral via HTTP installable by Impulse.... unless... Impulse the client was extremely riddled with bad .NET code (We already know it doesn't even trap specific error codes or exceptions 90% of the time instead prefering to chuck highly generic "wow. There was an error!" messages.),so bad that it can't even perform a normal uncorrupted transfer of binary data and save it intact.

Oh. And a bug with your "Download and Archive" option : Apparently, if Impulse crashes (every other time you run it...) or you exit it out, I could not test if you PAUSED the download, it restarts and isn't aware that that download was a "Download and Archive", but thinks it's an "Install". No archive file saved, and when completed it just installs the application. I vote this as yet another failing of creating standard test cases by your testers, to say the least. "Happy Path" testing, unit testing, regression testing, system testing, integration testing, sure things will almost always work... but you don't do any field testing or basic common problem testing such as... oh.... A multiple hour download getting an internet or software crash? At least make a popup that says "Hey man, if your system reboots, or this process dies, or your internet fails during this download.. you're SOL and need to restart it"... Gotta love program downloads as fragile as BIOS updates.
