I've been playing the Pantheon as Regulus and had modest success with this strategy. The goal is to max out Regulus's damage per second and to allow burst damage to finish off weak Demigods. Regulus can then efficiently farm creeps for gold/XP and scare off other demigods.
I focus on upgrading Divine Vengence. Secondary focus is Snipe and I put one point into Sniper Scope so I can kill towers. I also put a point in Tracking Device so I can snipe those severely hurt Demigods behind the lines.
The first item I get is a mana booster so I can keep Divine Vengence on all the time and still have mana left for Snipe. Second item I get is an attack damage booster.
First priority is to stay safe. Dying gives the enemy lots of gold, lots of XP and limits your oppotunity to level up. BAD! Two rules here: never wade into the middle of the enemy forces and never fight alone. Always have a friendly demigod or friendly creeps near by. I don't buy health or armor, preferring to spend my resources on dealing damage and staying alive by being selective about my engagements.
Second priority is to kill enemy Demigods. Lay into them with Divine Vengence and, when they retreat, snipe. Don't follow them into dangerous territory: you'll be killed by creeps, another demigod or towers. You may not get quite as many kills but keeping enemy demigods away from the front line is still a win.
Third priority is to kill enemy creeps (farm). This will allow you to level up and buy the good items. This will take up most of your time because enemy demigods will constantly be retreating from your awesome DPS.
Fourth priority is to kill towers. Don't attack a tower until you get the first point in Spiner Scope. If the tower is hitting you back, you're probably going to die.
Finally, capture flags whenever you safely can.
