A sad future for a great game

A sad future for a great game

This looks like an amazing game. I would really love to play it, but I'm not so sure about Impluse.

If only they would release the game on Steam.....

I know it's a competitor's platform and I'm sure they have some cool match making tools on Impluse, but think about the size of the Steam customer base. They would instantly sell more copies of the game. Give a few bucks to Valve in the process isn't shameful. (For a history lesson from one of Stardocks other games: Check this out.)

The best solution? Release it on both. Let the players decide which system to use. It's like Sony selling a game for PS3 and for 360. They still get paid no matter where you play the game.

Eh. I'll watch what happens. We'll see.

I sign your statement, it's suicide to be so stubburn because of the competition, in this way they already lost the competition...

Nothing against stardock, but it's just fair to advertise the game as much as possible...Maybe they should wait until it works properly and try a kind of a new start with releasing it on steam to get more attention.

I try to get attention via xfire: the more people play demigod, the more attention you get because others see what you are playing and they can watch screenshots and videos of the game through your profile

And use their crappy client to run a game? Don't make me laugh.

lackoo1111, you obviously don't use Steam, so your oppinion is irrelevant.

transitive, I think you misunderstood me. My point is that you get the whole game, but limited functionality.

I also want to point out that I wasn't trying to start a debate about the ups and downs of Steam vs other clients. I was more venting my frustation with having to install more than one digital distribution application. I was around in the beginning when Steam first came out. I remember those hair-pulling days when I couldn't play games I had paid for. I also remember the frustration of having to dig out CDs or DVDs to install my games. (I, like most of you, ripped the disk and kept the image on my machine, but that's still a pain.)

I'm a HUGE fan of digital distro. I love that when I reformat my computer, I just install Steam and give it an hour. BOOM. I'm only and playing. And now that Valve has had a few years to clean it up, Steam is great. I'm sure Impulse will be a fine product. I'm just lazy.

Oh and haydukelives, thanks for pointing out that I don't need to launch Impulse to play. Impulse doesn't seem to be a resource hog, but I like the ability to launch my games directly.
