Demigod uses 100% of my CPU.

halp

I have a pretty old PC, but it would certainly be enough to run Demigod on Low.. But, whenever i get in a game it starts to lag really bad... i can put the settings high or low, sound off or on, but it is basically the same all of the time.. Yes, i have upgraded my video card drivers.

Windows XP pro SP2

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.21 Ghz

1GB ram

Gforce 7600GT 256mb

Any help..?

i have a feeling theres a memory leak some where, but you should get some more ram really this game uses a lot of memory and partilaly it could be due to this memory leak im at 2gb of ram and i have gotten a fatal error once "not enough memory" and then lag spiked and crashed

Graphics don't have much to do with the CPU. The CPU handles things like AI, and maybe physics. Turning down graphics frees up the GPU. Just so you know.

Wiggums: With a single core, he needs his CPU to do all jobs. Your statement only holds true for dual or quad cores.

To be honest, OP, your CPU is years and years old. Demigod is a new game.

A single core CPU is probably a problem here, but for alot of people (including me) that have had similar problems it ended up being a sound card, not video problem.  Update your sound drivers first and foremost, reduce the sound quality settings in the game, etc.

Single core CPU = very bad for this engine. It's very CPU dependent.

I have a quad core, and I think it uses like 30% of each core. I'd have to double check.

if only i would have the money :P

+ i have an integrated sound card, i dont really know if i can update it.. anyway even without the sound it still lags.

I have the same problem, the game is not playable. My specs are:

Intel Core 2 Duo E660 2.4 ghz

GeForce 8800 GTS

4 GB ram

Windows Vista 64-bit

It does not matter if I turn the sound off, or lower the res, or lower the graphic quality...

I'm getting really frustrated with this mainly because there are so many threads on this issue but everyone just keeps brushing it off with bs like upgrade your drivers, you need more ram, upgrade your video card etc... There is obviously something wrong here and someone needs to look into this. Why is there no mod activity on this issue? Why is there no sticky?

Do you know the socket? It might be a pretty easy upgrade...Run cpuz and tell us the socket for this. If it's an AM2 socket, Athlon X2's are inexpensive and would probably make it run beautifully...You'd need to flash your BIOS probably, but that isn't too bad. Check out your motherboard model. Look inside your case or in a manual (if you have one) Or if you built it, let me know what type it is. Brand and it's name.

I have the same problem as well. I have more almost DOUBLE the RECOMMENDED specs, and even with everything on low I can barely move.

This is ridiculous.

Game is running fine with slowdowns or hitches for me.

Here's my setup:

Intel Core 2 DUO E8400 @3.00GZ (stock speed)

4GB RAM

XFX 9800 GTX+ (using 185.68 drivers)

Windows VIsta 64-bit SP1 /all updates applied.

Also tested this on a GTX 275 in the same system above and worked fine as well.

What, specifically, are the specs of your PC?

We've had some people saying that turning your audio settings to Stereo in the control panel will help with some performance issues.  If anyone else has tried this, please post your results whether positive or negative.

Game runs insanely smooth on max settings including AA... My system is not even that great.

Q9450 2.66(stock settings)

Vista 64bit Home Premium

Radeon 4870(stock settings)

4gb @1066 GSkill

WD 6400 600mb

22" Crappy LCD

Never seen any leak or slow down, and I usually run the game with a few applications on... Changing sound has only lowered that crackle sound I've gotten 3 or 4 times in SP when the battle is a huge reinforcment cluster ____ at a Citadel.

i just used /nosound and the game ran perfectly, no slowdowns, no nothing. played a 4v4 match till the end, and i had absolutely no lag.

Obvious thing to try out : Update sound drivers and/or set sound acceleration to basic in dxdiag

Indeed very obvious. A lot of people seem to have this issue. I don't know about others, but my drivers are updated and all. Still the game only runs smoothly with the /nosound option. Without it, I get 2-3 FPS. So the obvious thing didn't work out.
