I agree to the fullest with this, the way the system works with the high cost of the favor items makes people just buy a cheap one and then focus to get the best one for their favorit hero and they will miss out on all the others.

I say either make all favor items free (as the OP said) or make it so you don't buy them but instead unlock them when you reach enough favor points (when you have 1000 favor points all items that cost 1000 or less favor points are unlocked, and once you reach 2000 points all items are unlocked).

The former is imo the best one since it's more fair for everyone, the 2nd one keeps abit of the achivement thing (we currently have) but lets us atleast try some of the items on the way to the top ones.

Kallius: Think about favor items in a game like Quake - giving you an advantage in a game that SHOULD be about skill and nothing else.

Battles are at the moment won by those who have figured out how to "cheat" the favor so you can buy whatever you want.

Why not just add all the favor items to another shop ingame, balance out the goldcost of the items based on some feedback and go from there. Or make them unlockable ingame through some kind of game mechanics. IE you get access to item X when you've capped 10 flags. You get access to Item Y when you've killed 5 people, etc etc...

Yes, I know that you still have leveling left, but I said an important part. I like the fact that what I do lasts for more then 30 minutes...

Why judge favor items when the game has only been out for a few days and then game still change quite much with each patch? I think favor items will work as they are supposed to be when the game gets more updated.

I think that you should get something for playing the game alot, even if you suck at it. That might help people who aren't so good, but try to be.

If you change favor items to one of the ways you guys describe above, the whole idea with favor items will be lost and you might as well remove them completely.

I like the way it is now...For a new player, by the time he learns the game, he will have unlocked all his persistend items. It's a nice feeling (for some of us) that you have when you unlock an item.

I agree that in a purely competitive game, all players should be on an level playing field, and I'm sure this is why there's an option in custom games to turn off favor items.  For casual play these are a good addition however, and encourage better long-term player retention.

I consider myself a competitive player and this is really a non-issue.  Here's why: the best item, +15% move speed, is affordable after two games.  Build diversity options would be nice, but movespeed is all you really need.  The only problem right now is the bug that keeps resetting favor points.  After that it'll be no problem.

All in all, it's a good feature.

The top ranked players will have all persistent items they want (when it's not bugged anymore), so for them it will never make it uneven.

And for the rest of us, I think persistent items will just make the game more fun and more unique.

Atm they are grinded and not achievements.

Agree with OP too. At first the favor points/favor items thing felt cool, I like some persistent customization too. But even if the favor wasn't bugged (seems to be working now, though..), atm it's just about grinding. And the 15% movement speed is too much of a no-brainer for many demigods and builds.

I just feel a bit cheap, when playing against people who don't yet have any favor items, perhaps due to bugged favor points or them not having playet much online. 15% movement speed makes all the difference, and during that particular game I will have that advantage, somebody else has no chance of getting it.
