This has become a joke.

The multiplayer interface in this game is beyond pathetic.  The custom games list locks up for minutes at a time, connecting to a game is a crap shoot, pantheon can't connect more then two humans in a game and if it does they drop when the game starts.  I haven't tried skirmish yet but I'm assuming its gonna provide the same results as before.  I read these status updates that new servers are up and all this other great stuff, but where is the improvement??? While I enjoy the gameplay, the multiplayer is limiting my desire to play. You guys keep saying your doing things for improvement but I haven't noticed any during this week.  My best experience with the game has been on a hamachi server.  When can we expect actual improvement so I can stop playing till then?

Well the game just came out a few days ago. They have already resolved a lot of issues and stated a lot more will be resolved in the new week. Patience.

And last night I had two pantheon matches that had 6 players in them so certainly more than two happens.

to be fair i've played nothing but custom games with friends, maybe somewhere in the 70's by now. but i hardly have trouble...ever

If its that much of the "END OF THE WORLD AHHHH!!!!1""" to you then leave.. seriously. Its the first week of a luanch, chill the F out.

Actuallly, the servers are running extremely slowly at the moment. Things have improved during the week but the game is still pretty much unplayable at times.

Yes I said it was the end of the world. Dont be so sensitive to the game.  If i'm having a poor experience with it i'm gonna voice it.  First week yes, cause every thing you buy should have a grace period to work.  Theres the door? Yes I paid 45$ theres the door haha

Wow.  We've gone a long way into accepting broken games.  The consensus on these boards when responding to someone who is frustrated because the game they paid for doesn't work the way the vendor TELLS THEM IT WILL ON THE FRIGGIN BOX is "shut up and stop whining".  During a beta, it is fine to tell someone that, but not after they paid for the product.

I've been patient, too, and actually purchased TWO copies of this game (one for me, one for my son), but I have to agree.  I'm waiting 8 minutes to try to get in to a Pantheon match.

I'm trying to connect to Custom Games and have come to expect a 30-40% success rate.  Yes, roughly 3-4 time out of 10 tries I might get into a match.

This is bull.

So much promise in the premise.  So poorly executed.

This week stardock will implement Proxy Servers on their hardware through which noobs who cant port forward will connect. It is an official statement from SD, now please take your QQ with you and wait a couple of days.

Just install GameRanger and watch for custom games on there.  Sure, it isn't the panthon, but it has worked 100% of the time for me so far.  I have yet to not be able to connect to a game using that service, it is amazing.  The only problem is that most of the games on it are pirate ones, so you have to look for a patch .093 game.

I just need to figure out what is wrong with my internet connection so that I can finish one of those games, but that's my problem, not demigod's.

Yeah, GameRanger works really great. I suggest everyone use that until the Proxy Servers are up, which by the looks of it may be pretty soon.

So, Pantheon works sometimes, Custom Game works sometimes, there is no single player campaign mode with a story, there is no tutorial.  But this is a multiplayer game!  Except for the part where Pantheon and Custom Games don't work much.  At all.

I'm a fan of this game, and I want it to succeed, but this is a terrible launch.

actually it works fine for me so saying stuff liek its completley broken is, well bs

From that same post that talks about proxies...

One request I do have for the community: While we know statistically that multiplayer is working in most cases, there are a lot of people who cannot connect. Please refrain from telling users that they need to learn how to use their router or whatever. The fact is, people shouldn’t have to configure their routers to play a video game. We do ask those who are having problems to have as much patience as they can muster. Both Stardock and GPG are doing their best to make the multiplayer experience good for everyone.

Just because you happen to live in the US and run a nice happy cable internet connection setup that's been thoroughly tested in development, don't assume everyone else has failed some basic test you passed without trying because yours works.

I know quite a few people with up to date hardware, who know how to set ports through the impulse reactor and forward them correctly but can't get into games most the time. Whilst I'll wager the game works as intended, without any kind of port forwarding needed, in a lot of cases where people are having hardly any connection trouble. (Who then assume everyone else's experience must be exactly the same and start flinging accusations of being whiny/retarded if anyone has more problems than they.)

Just because things are working fine with you and your group of friends doesn't mean it's okay for the rest of the playerbase.  Get some perspective.  This is not acceptable, even for a first week of launch.  Stardock recognizes this.  Don't act like people shouldn't be annoyed right now.

I agree, if you are having problems that sucks and i hope you get it working soon. But to say its a jhoke and that everyoen is having issues is silly, its a small percentage of people that are still having alot of issues.

Stardock said it is 5% of people who are having issues in NA and slightly higher for UK and Asia.

Thats hardly EVERYONE having issues as ive been seeing in this forum.

And the rest of europe? It may be anecdotal but whenever I join an EU game alot more than 5% say they're having constant trouble connecting.

Maybe Europe is just 5% of buyers... I'm used to networks challenges but this one is too ridiculous. We can't go other ways than our ISP's allows us in Europe, so if the game is just for the U.S we could have a warning: If you live in europe don't buy this Multiplayer Game, it won't work!

First of all, I am not from US. My cable connection is normal and I do not have random crap on my computer that affects my perfomance. None of that anti-spyware bs everyone has these days. You have people saying demigod doesnt work when they have Norton, SuperAntihax firewall over 9000 running at the same time blocking all incoming TCP/UDP connections, then they come and QQ saying stardock sucks.

Because most people can play multiplayer, the rest has the problems in their system. While I am all for helping, I am severaly againstp eople who bash on SD and DG and say things like "THIS SUX, This is a joke etc."

I have to agree, Stardock should have seen these problems back in their beta.  Granted it's a waste of money to buy every computer set up imaginable for this game to run on, and every router+ISP combination, but when they made a P2P game they should have foreseen the need for proxy servers ahead of time.  This game just keeps disappointing when it comes to the multiplayer experience.  Right now I am waiting on my 3rd attempt at a pantheon game to find players.  I have played Pantheon games with my firewall and router before, but it's a slightly higher sucess with my PC on DMZ, ports forwarded and firewall off for windows.  It SHOULDN'T require an AA degree in networking to play a game, and it sure as hell SHOULDN'T require me to expose my PC like this either.  Oh look, I have been disconnected from the NAT Facilitator again.

For a game that doesn't have any real depth right now, they should really fix the fact that 5% of their playerbase can't even play.

EDIT: I use Comcast, i have an Nvidia 8800 GTX graphics card and yes my drivers are updated.  So my system is fine, I have done everything I can to get these Pantheon games to go off without a hitch on my part, and I have played before so I know it can be done.  So why is it so hit or miss with this game for multiplayer?

Gosh, ok.  Maybe I'm in the minority!  Please tell me how you connect!  I'm not being a jerk, or sarcastic, I just want to know someone is out there who isn't going through extraordinary steps to get this game to work right.  Each and every time.

I have connected to Pantheon.  I have connected to Custom Games.  But they often seem the exception, when they should be the rule.

I confess, my configuration is a bit sophisticated because I need to have two clients working behind the same router.  However, I have researched it and done the following:

Turned OFF UPnP because I have manually forwarded two seperate port ranged to the two clients.  Each client has a range of ports that is unique to that client - I've done this through the CVP utility in the BIN folder where Demigod is installed.

Also, I'm not just a naysayer.  I have posted a number of times with tips and solutions that have worked for me.  Neither am I immature or ill spoken (IMHO!).  I'm not bashing the game because it is something fun for me.  No troll here, folks.

I have kept both my copies of the game and intend to do so.  But that doesn't mean that I can't voice my opinion vociferously.

I'm from Europe and having an awful time trying to connect to people.

This is a direct quote from Frogboy:

"I think the % is higher than 5%.  I think if we were talking United States, then 5% would be probably right. But in Europe and Asia, them trying to connect to each other it is a lot higher than 5%."

And I think  he's right. At least I hope, then I know I'm not the only one in Europe having a hard time playing multiplayer :)

Why are some of you sticking up for Stardock?  Honestly?

The TC is complaining about more than just locking up and the server.  The multiplayer interface IS a joke.  No joining a friends game?  No auto-retry?  No enter game name?  No sorting?  No lobby chat?  No other lobbies?  Auto refresh? hahahahaha.

Please, save yourself the argument against people that are complaining.  They missed a lot of things that are pretty basic for newer games.
