Highest latency before framerate starts to suffer?

Out of curiosity, what do you find is the highest acceptable ping you have played with before the framerate starts to suffer? On games with local players 50ish ms etc the framerate is superb. Chuck in someone 400+ ms however and it really bogs it down somewhat - just like supreme commnander used to.

Have seen games hosted where they'll kick anyone over 300ms etc - what do you think in general is a good range without really bogging it down?

Unfortunately I have little choice to join games with higher latency players as there seems to be hardly any Aussies playing at the moment - so we'll get a 3v3 with say 5 aussies and one 400ms player and the 400ms guy slows it down which really makes micro difficult.

I usually kick anyone over 200. Rough, but I like when the game rides smooth.

300+

Anything 300+ you get hiccups... Those annoying every 5 or so second .5 second freezes. Actually I think they start popping about 270ms.

I can't stand playing Pantheon when you see someone over 300... Because...

If he's on the opposite team, someone on my team can't take it and eventually leaves...

If he's one my team... I flip out going dude, fix your stuff, or move to country with some better quality internet, and then he eventually leaves...

Either way... What usually happens is the game sucks form the hiccups, or the game sucks because someone leaves and my entire team is AI gold feeders.

I have the same issue (also from Aus) with having to join games with people from overseas. If I can get a ping of around 300 to them then its quite playable however you can still fell the latency (especially in combat).

I find around 400 is perfectly playable. Of course, 450+ is definately starting to push it.

I just wish everyone else knew that. -_-

I dont really see any huge lag pauses or anything, it's just when higher latency starts to make the whole game jerky - it frustrates the HELL out of me. It is extremely difficult to micro in and out of intense combat and stay alive when the game goes all sluggish.

Supreme commander used to go the same way when it was mid to late game and someones computer couldnt handle it - it was unbearable.

This is a lot better but yeah.
