Allow joining game in progress

Wouldn't it be nice if you could join a game in progress, and choose one of the AI controlled demigods to take over?

This would solve the problem when someone has a connection problems for lan and other closed games where you know who is playing, you wouldn't have to start the game all over again after playing for ages.

This is a great feature in my opinion, and not enough games do it.

Which has the architecture of an FPS.

In other words, P2P games can't allow this :P

They can allow it if they want to... just because not many other RTS haven't done itm doesn't mean they should follow the trend.

No, they can't allow it, not without sending the equivalent of an entire save game. Which means a big pause for everyone currently playing the game.

they can do it with Diablo so why not with Demigod?? it would be a perfect thing to implement when players lag out or more people are needed..

i think it would be too unbalanced for thing like the Pantheon.  say ur in a game and ur obviouslt more skilled then they are... overpowering them till late game.  then everyone rage quits and brand spaking new bunch of hardcore pro players join resulting in u being viciously raped by their super pro skillz.  thus all the work u did in the early game is for not because when the new people join its basicly another game.

i do think however that a Switch Side command might be interested if your going to take DotA as an example.  sure it annoying as hell when ur most fed player jumps ship and solo's ur whole team, but at least it saves u from the dam Normal AI replacements.

Correct.

The technology to handle large number of units and keep the game in sync between all players does not exist.  FPS are built on a totally diffrent architecture and have less information/units to worry about, so they can do it.
