Day 4 - still cant connect

connection issue

Hi,

OK - heres my setup:

- Outbound ip: x.x.x.x

- 10.0.0.1 - Router (forwared UDP ports 6000-6300 to 10.0.0.3)
- 10.0.0.3 - Vista x64 - Gaming machine (firewall disabled atm)

- UPnP disabled on router
- All other "fancy" settings are disabled on router

1) Im 100% sure that my router and gaming machine accept connection on the udp ports 6000-6300
2) I have tested this with 3 diffrent friends in Norway, Sweden & Australia (Im from Norway btw)
3) UDP tester tool: http://udp-test-tool.software.informer.com/

My outbound IP is static and my ISP aint shaping or remapping ports. (This is a "company line")

Iv bought and downloaded demigod at day 0, but still havnt managed to play a single multiplayer game.

Ingame chat works, multiplayer login works, custom game list work. And now its stops :/

Any tip how to get this working?

PS! If any of you devs see this - Im more than happy to share more data/testing if you give me instructions.

Which error do you get?

Just for a quick follow-up: I also play a lot of wc3 and I manage to both play and host custom games without any problems. Wc3 custom games also use the same client/host technology and uses udp ports in the 6000-range.

"Connecting to players, please wait"

So you don't eventually get the "Cannot connect to a NAT facilitator." message?

I have the same issue and I never see the "Cannot connect to NAT facilitator" message.   I think I saw it one time after I hit cancel.

Edit:  I'm running Vista x64 too.  It would be great to see if there was some commonality between all the folks that can't connect and ones that can.

Well it takes quite some time until the error shows up.

I left my computer while "Connecting to players, please wait" and went out for 1,5hours. But stil no error message or something else.

Could anyone else running Vista x64 confirm however internet games is working or not? (and if their NATed or not)

Ah ok. A friend of mine was getting the "Cannot connect to a NAT facilitator." error too, but since today it doesn't show up. It simply says "Connecting to players." without any players ever showing up in the list.

I have quite similar setup (but I have "double" NAT) and have the same symptoms. One time I got the NAT error message. Also live in Norway, have static IP and Nextgentel ISP.

When waiting for a game I can see lots of UDP traffic in wireshark, only source and destination port 6000 and 6200 though...

6073, 6100-6200 forwarded to Vista buisness machine.

I have never been able to join game.

The gameplay seems fantastic in single player so really want some multiplayer action!

It's not Vista 64 as that is what I am running (and running Windows 7 64 on another).

Muttok, was this a custom game you were trying to join or something else?

Tried everything, but mostly custom games, as I actually can see something going on in the game list :)

What type of connection is provided by your ISP(cable, dsl, etc...)?  I ask because you mentioned it is a 'company line' and some multi-line business connections could be sharing between multiple IP addresses which can cause connection issues.

Just a regular ADSL. And no, there is no IP sharing what soever. Every outgoing request is from the same static IP that I got.

No other companies/user on this connection either.

April 19 i got this game played it and after the tournament tried to go online. I get the cannot establish NAT/ NAT dissconnected/ connecting to game ERRORS. Im running Vista x64 but I can connect to WC3 using the TCP/IP port 6112 so opening ports 6100-6200 for UDP is very very simple specially to disable ALL firewalls and any other options that block traffic bassically my machine is very very open to port attacks now but still cant connect to ANYONE. I live in Southern California and running a 10mbps cable internet cant host nor join. But in others games like WC3 if this works like a P2P how come torrent files can be transmitted easily while this game cant do that? This game is very much alike with Warcraft 3: DOTA thats why i play WC3 and got this game for ONLINE play.

Machine: XPS730i H2C QX9650 OC @ 3.8ghz 4GB 1600mhz RAM 2x GTX280 1gb DDR3 @ SLI mode - Runs every game in the market

Router: D-Link® DIR-825 Xtreme N™ Dual Band Gigabit Router - So no upgrade to latest firmware as its the LATEST

Edited added SPECS

BTW, I have the DIR-665 Xtreme N Gigabit Router and I also can not connect to about 90% of games. Try as many connections as you can, you might be able to get into one.

Heh, there is a simple solution, download a torrented game, install hamachi and play. The only problem is you cant play with the impulse version of the game, since most hamachi games are pirated and you wont be able to connect to pirated games because impulse game has a diff version.

Ratsy: Yes, iv tried that and its working. However I don't want to spend a lot of time finding hamachi networks and avoiding pirated copies. As Frogboy wrote in hes blog, GameRanger seems to be a better solution.

However I really want to play this game as its supposed to be.

Well good luck doing that :) If i dont get a game in 10 minutes trying i just give up and go do something else. I havent had 1 single MP game as it's supposed to be. So pirated version vorks better for me, how it'll be in the future i dont know... i hope it gets better, till then i'll do what i can to enjoy the game i bought.

I'm running Vista 64.  I have forwarded 6100-6200 UDP, but not 6073.

For me it's hit or miss.  If the game doesn't get started within 5 minutes, I cancel and try again.  Every once in awhile I will get the "cannot connect to NAT facilitator error message".  But overall, I've been able to get a game going after a couple tries.

BTW - This is on Pantheon mode.

I also get this "Connecting to players, please wait" , and its hit or miss, sometimes I get in a game sometimes it hangs on that message for 30 min and I just quit the game.

How the pirated version can works better since everything the pirate version can do, you can also do it with a legit version ?

Indeed. Ratsy, that makes no sense at all.
