Multiplay Lacking Communication?

So I've played demigod online a few times and I have to say i love the game.  At first I shelled out money for what I thought would be another Dota clone of sorts, but i have to say Stardock did not dissappoint the game is amazing.

On the otherhand I feel multiplayer is kind of a let down.  Either I'm plagued by connection issues (which I'm not noticing at all) or people just aren't communicating with each other in games and as a result I don't feel like I'm part of a team when I play online.  It's more like I go off and do my thing and my ally goes and does his thing and at some point during the day we meet each other "say hi" and help each other out before moving down our seperate paths again.  I've tried communicating with my team during games but normally nobody responds, it's kind of sad.  So i guess really I was just curious: does anyone else feel like multiplayer is lacking a teamwork element?

Before every match I ask if any human is actually on my team...I have yet to get  a response...so I have to assume either I'm always teamed with AI or all my matches have been against AI

AI has 0 ping so :D . But yes most people tend to not answer you. Sometimes I do not even see the messages, dunno if I am too into the fight or what, should be a hotkey to show the chat as you hold it down just to see if someone is saing something. Maybe some short "voice commands" like most half-life mods. Press x and a menu opens where you can press 1-5.

1. Left flank help
2. Right flank help

and so on.

Voice commands are a good idea.  I know that as you concentrate on the game, it's easy to miss people typing.  One way to get around this would be to make it play a sound when someone types in a text message, the sound having a delay before it'll repeat again so that people can't be annoying with it.

Edit: Option to turn the sound on and off too.

Would love better options for this as well.

Also chat needs have the option to stay on the screen or have an adjustable fade timers!

i agree with this, the chat is really hidden with no background behind it

also id like some kind of indictator on whos an AI and who's not

Once we get VOIP (This game is getting in game VOIP right? I remember hearing that somewhere) then hopefully players will be talking.

One problem is that the chat text is just hard to see.  A couple of possible fixes:

1.  Increase chat font size

2.  Add colors to chat font text, including having each player's name be their assigned color (see how DOTA does it...)

3.  Increase time before chat text disappears (it goes by pretty quickly now - I'm a pretty fast reader and often I have to hit the ENTER key just so the text will pop back up and I can see what was being said)

They could stand to clean things up. I mean there's a lot of senseless space taken up or left unused. The minimap...yes it spins, that's great. Really, but no one cares, give me a standard minimap out of any RTS that I can USE. Pingable as well as clickable to move.

Text needs to be reworked. With all the white fog and stuff the white text just blends away. Every player should have a color associated with their name. Don't color all the text but atleast color the person saying it.

There needs to be a mini scoreboard. Take a look at DotA, you don't need it up, it's toggleable. Has the overall kills to deaths for your team. The stats for your team kills deaths and assists for each person as well as shows how long till people respawn. There's no reason the scoreboard has to take up 100% of the screen, that's insane. A miniboard is fine =P

I think part of the issue is the lack of need for communication. Other than the occasional skill combo among teammates, as long as you're doing something productive, there's little reason to talk. More and better methods of co-operative play within a match would help encourage both teamwork and team communications. Look at L4D - the need for teammates to rescue each other (something they can not do themselves unless they outright prevent it to begin with) encourages teamwork and team communications; teams that don't talk don't work as well, though they are mostly still functional.

I would sugest game suported voice chat. even if im in trouble, typing out that i need help isnt going to help much.

1) theres no garuntee anyone will see it(I usualy dont notice when other people type)

2) while im typing, they're killing me.

its just counterproductive to try and type anything out. Game suported voice chat just seems the way to go to incresing comunication.
