[WAI?] Regulus can snipe unlimited range

...if he initiates the Snipe-ability while a player is teleporting

You see an enemy player with 200HP teleporting home. Initiate "Snipe" and wait for it. The enemy teleports to his shop, but instead of disrupting my shot when the enemy is gone, Regulus shoots the arrow, which promptly changes direction towards the enemy base, and "BAM!", Regulus dominates another sad being.

This might not be a bug, it might be intended.  This happens with any targetted spell, once initiated they do not miss.  Also works with the TB's fireball.

The issue with Regulus in this instance is that damage for Snipe is increased over range and I believe it calculates the range that the projectile flies after it's been fired, not when it is initially "cast" so you end up getting a massive sniper bolt in the chest dealing between 1 and 1.5k dmg.

If that is the case then yeah it is a bug, but it might just use the distance that you are when you start firing the shot.

Yeah. I have had a few lucky Fireball "after-gibs" using this method. See them start using TP and wind up a Fireball. It's always satisfying when they die after using their TP scroll ^_^

I haven't had the issue so much with TB, but deffinately with regulus. I don't know if its working as intended, but he deffinately does seem to have infinite range. In fact, he can sit in his base, while his partner sights people in the middle of the map doing ridicerous damage. I think that's a little ridiculous if it is intended. If it's not intended, please fix it... eventually. D:

I have no problem with the fact that he can shoot from his base. He's a sniper, and snipe doesn't do THAT much damage. 1020 is my max (that I've seen; you can't see the damage it makes when the enemy teleports and then gets hit :P ).

I just find it weird. The shot/spell should simply be disrupted. Or someone should just come in here, say it's WAI and let us get used to a new gameplay-style

On retrospect, I've kind of grown to like it. Maybe because I've been using more ranged characters as of late... =P

Hahaha yeah, well, I guess all characters have some feature the other guys just love to hate.

The undying healer-chick, the burrowing and very "productive" fan-service faerie, the flick-shot sniper, the 5000rpm meatgrinding beast, the stunning Mr. Fahrenheit, the allpowerful Alcatrazman, the lightning-fast curser of blood, and the cheesy hit-and-run-guy.

This isn't a glitch.  It's mentioned in one of the dev blogs, it's supposed to work this way.

Solution: Don't teleport away from a sniping Regulus.

And as for Regulus hiding in the base.  It's not even a good strat.  He can only snipe from that distance, he can't cap flags and he can't use any other abilities.  It isn't even remotely unbalanced so...

That guy sounds like a cheesy cartoon character who talks all tough but is the biggest cowered ever.

i always buy that ring with the immunity effect on it vs regulus that goes snipe build

i teleport and hit the button right away

also..u can choose to teleport earlier rather than use it as a panic

Everytime I see a thread that decries Regulus, I get a little shiver down my spine. He's not the only Demigod that can make use of this 'feature', IMO stop trying to TP out at 200 HP and you'll never have this problem.

As lovable Paul Barnett from Warhammer Online once quoted: "Anyone who kills me must be cheating, and anyone I kill just sucks at the game".

Played Reg yesterday, and I could'nt figure out how he was shooting targets clear accross the map. Now I know, it's a bug, or a REALLY great ability.

Why should it be the range when you started the snipe? The shot TRAVELED farther...

Lets say the enemy team captured a flag....You are about to overtake that flag and Regulas is all the way across the map.....Well he can see you even through all the fog of war between his point and yours because they can see the flag without fog of war on their map.

He then takes out his super crossbow and aims carefully and can magically see through the fog of war(with his goggles I'm assuming) and hit you all the way across the map.

Once he is a bit tired he will walk back towards his base heal and wait until someone on the other team is low on health while being chased by his buddies and boom through out all that fog of war through the citadel window and countless towers he will shoot an arrow straight into your heart.

bahhh......what a pussy

Max range on snipe is 90 meters. It's working as intended - in fact the bug is when snipe doesn't proc even when you started channeling it long before the port procs.

And if you want to really use it right you lay 6 mines on a flag, maybe plant an observation ward, snipe your opponent before he gets to the flag, and then after your opponent gets hit with the 2700 damage from the mines and you have cooled down you snipe him again for the kill

You guys are bringing back memories, might have to start playing Reg again O:)

omfg soo much crying about reg.. hey reg has snipe.. it does more dmg the further ur r from it when he uses it..... SOoooooooooooooo.. Cry about how op it is on forums and call it a bug?? hmm.......... dont tp when fighting reg.. buy potions instead.. and realize hes a whore for melee.. get up close.. lifesteal/maim.. pwned.. hes not op.. ur just bad.. its not a bug.. he does dmg for distance traveled.. once ur start casting a spell.. any spell.. as long as ur in range when he cast it.. its viable.. they wouldn't of put the nice lile mechanic where it does more dmg the further it travels.. if that's not the way it was meant.. the comp tps back to base all the time vs reg and lives.. and only  "Good" reg's can time it so taht noobs who tp get sniped the 2nd they tp... or u catch the noobs who dont tp to the heal.. and they get pwned... either way.. its ur own fault.. not a bug..... end of story

I was just curious if this was intended. It's not normal behavior for games, though I embrace it and I love to play Regulus.

Not to whine, but I DO feel he's abit OP at end game once items come into play; hardly anything can be done against a reg with attack speed/damage/range maxed

But I digress, because the point is not to let him GET that far.

My main and basically only gripe about regulus is that he outranges the towers.  Granted you aren't supposed to let him sit back and rape your towers, but the few shots he gets in every few seconds (you can't stay and fight all day) are unpunished to him.  Especially end game when you are somewhat losing becuase a wave of creeps is at your base and a level 10 regulus is destroying your towers protecting your portal and caps your portal.  Unless you look for him doing it, you wont know because the announcer only says that your defenses are under attack, not "Regulus is outranging and destroying your towers by your portal."

That is my only real gripe.  I don't have much trouble with snipe, because I usually dont let myselft get low enough, but we all slip up.  Get over that.

Gettin' gibbed by Snipe is easily avoidable, but out-ranging towers is something completely different and rather annoying.

I'm fairly sure this works on all targetted abilities btw... I used bite on a teleporting npc and the timer finished just after he teleported, but he still died.
