Foul mouth players.

Listen, I like this game. A lot.  I however DO NOT enjoy it when I get a teammate who says FUCKING FUCK FUCK you suck idiot every other sentence and berates me who whatever.  Takes ALL the fun out of the game.  Stardock and anyone else, what can we do about these players?

I know others must have the same experience and it is not fun.  Oh, and his game name is DiesMoor.  If you see him around.

They are working on more advanced features that'll let you block players from being auto-matched with you and things like that.

Good to know.  Thanks Annatar.

That was the biggest thing I hated about dota was people that would freak out and start ranting about either the player sucking or just dumb stuff like host you suck.  My favorite is when you create a noob game and those same people tell you you suck and your like "omg its a noob game, cant you read?"

I dont think the demigod community will ever get that bad.  I have been playing dota for nearly 5 years and pretty much stopped playing online with people I do not know (thank god for ai maps) because too many retards that talk crap, even if when they themselves are not that good.  I had one game where I was harrased the entire game and his kill to death ratio was terrible.  Why are people so annoying like that, its just a game get over it.

I would love if they made an ignore list or something like you mentioned Annatar11 so people who just want to play and have fun dont need to be remined of the elitist/nerdrage/emo kid that has more issues than just playing demigod in a rational way.

Yeah its a good idea to  seperate the competitive players from the casuals in a formal way.

I agree.

The solution to this will be something we're coming out with in the June time frame. It's external to Demigod but what it will do is let you set some criteria as well as ignore certain users (squelch them in game) and from then on when you play skirmish or pantheon you'll be able to just get the kinds of players you want.

This will also be a way for people to set up groups of friends and such to play together more easily in ranked games.

Banlist someone?...much easier, for private and public use.Remember wc3banlist?..it is not THE best banlist out there, but certainly it helps.Pings, locations, and banning...also retards can't ban others just for playing good, since the bans would be submitted to a vote..with a replay to show the truth

Yes, a banlist is much needed. Got the same idiot 3 times in a row.

I"ve been VERY lucky so far, either got silent people, or people that communicate maturely.  Quitters are my only bane. For those that really want voice in the game, be aware it gets worse after that (until that thing in June is implemented).

Wait a minute. You are saying that the plans are to impliment filters to skip playing certain people in ranked games? I'm sorry but no, thats a bad idea. What happens when people just start avoiding the better players because they can choose to? Getting inflated ranks because people put good players on their "ignore" lists sounds cheap to me. In a community this small you will see the same people again and again when the AI gets taken out of the equation.

I understand the frustration of the people who dont like being yelled at or swear words offend them but they need to be able to not see the text of the people they ignore, removing them from the same game as them is just too much.

  • Game's chat should DEFAULT to having a language filter on and have an option to turn it off.
  • Should be able to have an option to ignore a player, in which case you'll no longer see any messages from said player.

I agree. Certainly it would just be muting in ranked game correct? That would be foolish to alow avoiding people in ranked.

a language filter may work for people who are offended by certain words like "fuck", but they are absolutely worthless against offensive people. You can troll and be offensive without "bad" words.

Also, many people use the word fuck in absolutely non-offensive ways. Let them.

Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering if the OP was playing with (or against) Slurple?  It certainly sounds like him!

And I'm glad to hear a 'don't play with' list is being implimented, I can already tell you Slurple is on it.  (gee, I make it sound like I REALLY DON'T LIKE the guy, don't I?  )

So if I plug in the names of the top 100 players in the ladder then I never have to play them?  That's something you might want to look at more closely -_-

In other news I'm excited about the June update :D

To all those who responded.  Thanks.  It's good to know others want action taken as well.  I can see both sides as well with this thread.  One for a "ban list" and one against it but with squelch features.  All in all, I want a game that I can enjoy without being berated and verbally forced out.  However it can be done, great.

I am definitely for a "/squelch/' command.  I don't have any issues playing with irrate people as long as I am not forced to listen to them.  It's like online poker, you play the cards b/c you can't see your opponent.

Thanks for the responses.  This game is great and I look forward to seeing it improved.
