Can Demigod run on Radeon 9800 pro?

Dear forum members, thanks for all your help answering my doubts before.

I just had one question before proceeding with my purchase. My pc has the recommended system requirements, there should not be any problem with that. However my little brothers pc is a 3 ghz pentium HT with a radeon 9800 pro.

By coincidence , a cousin of mine already bought the game and tested it on its secondary pc (which also has a radeon 9800 pro). He tells me there were graphical glitches (missing polygons) and the game run really slowly to be played (even with everything set on low or windowed). Whats strange is that his main pc has a Radeon x1550 AGP ( a little below sys requirements) and it runs perfectly using same ATI drivers (which I think are from december 08).

So seeing that , i felt compelled to ask if theres is any way to make the radeon 9800 pro running, i dont know maybe a patch has been released or maybe some tweaking to be done in control center? Has anyone had experiences with this card and demigod , or anyone that could shed a little bit of light in this subject?

Thanks in advance for everything once again;
Regards,

Eduro

No, it will not run. My X800 card cannot run the game worth crap, and it's newer. I think maybe the X1800 generation has some feature support that allows them to run the game, even though they are physically slower. Who knows, though. *shrug*

Your card needs Shaders V3.0 or newer. This is not stressed enough on the box requirements.

9800 and X800 are both v2.0. Basically, you will have to emulate the shaders, reducing your frame rate by a factor 10!

I tried it on an X1800, also v2.0, and I couldn't get past 3fps.

While the HD3850 is a good card, you should really ditch your AGP motherboard, as the AGP interface zill really kill your card's abilities.

Works awesome on GeForce 8800GT and you should be able to buy those cheap these days....

Yep, ATI added Shader Model 3 support (which the game requires) in the x1 series. Thus the minimum requirement of an x1600; even though an x850 for example might be more powerful, it lacks SM3 and thus can't run the game.

I tried running it on a 9800 pro and it will run...but it isn't playable by my standards.  I only had a 2 ghz proc on that comp and got maybe 10 fps max.  This was during the beta though.  I'm not sure how it will run with a 3 ghz proc, but it still probably won't be acceptable framerates.

Yeah I was just offering him probably the best option if he is sticking with the AGP setup he has.

In all honesty...I just built my son a new system. Its able to run Demigod like a champ. The whole system only cost me about $430 for everything. Its a AMD 4450 dual core, 3 gb ddr2 ram, Nvidia 9600GT. Basically I did it the lazy way. I bought a fairly basic core system then put in a new power supply and video card.

Runs Demigod like a champ though no issues at all.

Yes, you can play it like the above person mentioned.   ATI probably added shader3.0 support to 9series as well.   You'll get like 5 frames per second since I tried it on my 9800.

a lot of games have started requiring shader 3.0, first noticed this a year and a half ago. so you'll want a new card anyway...
