Quitters (Rage or Otherwise)

First question I've got to GPG and SD:   Does the game still count for a Win in the Pantheon if the enemy quits over half (1/2) way through the game?

I've got the problem that in the last two games that I've played the enemy team seemed to trickle out and leave the game while losing.

The story of my last game:>   Our team was playing the map with the statue pooring water on the East side, it's a small 3vs3  square sized map with 13 flags on it (3 in the middle and 5 on each teams side).   The game was point gain with the first team to reach 10,000 points winning.  Well, mid game we were at roughly 5,200 points and the enemy at 2,600 when the first guy on their team drops.  The enemy wasn't doing that badly either, as they've killed each of my teammates twice (I didn't die and even at the end had a perfect non-death score).  Well, we pushed up their left/East side taking out their towers and capping one portal and a gold flag.  They pushed back, recapped both flags, so we went to the other side.  At this point we're nearly 8,800 points and another enemy drops.  No more than 5 seconds after that guy drops does the last guy on their team drop.   So, for the last minute us three humans played against AI bots because the enemy team quit.

Seriously, what's wrong with people?  If you're going to lose, sit there and take it like a man (or woman in some cases) and lose with dignity.  I mean, you'd be upset if the shoe was on the other foot and the enemy team all quit while you were winning, right?  I'm sure you would.  It's just very irritating that at the end you cannot say "good game" or "it was fun" or have good sportsmanship out it because your opposing team just decided they couldn't take a lose and left.

My suggestion to GPG and SD is to add in some sort of penalty to those that quit a game early in a Pantheon game.  Maybe minus favor from them (that is, if the current minus favor bug gets fixed), take way their ranks, make it count as 2 loses on their roster, or something along those line that would make them stop quiting so often without facing something harsh.

Sometimes matches can be fun, even with a loss. If I play and know I will lose I still try and earn as much favor as possible... But I will quit a match, immediately, if the sides are totally imbalanced. I've had enough of 2v1 (I don't count AI), or worse, 1v3.

Sometimes matches count when the enemy drops, and sometimes they don't... I don't know the logic behind it. They don't earn favor, and it counts as a disconnect; it's more than enough punishment.

I play to win. I prefer opponents who also play to win. If I'm going to lose, why should I waste both my time and my opponents' by fighting a lost cause? So no, I would not be upset if my opponents quit when a win was certain. They are doing me a favor by saving me time. There is no shame in admitting defeat.

A foregone conclusion isn't much of a game. Sit there and let me run over you or you're less of a person? LOL

It's not really that so much as just attempting to fight back.  I mean, even if you're losing atleast TRY to turn it around and attempt to fight the enemy instead of giving up.  Who knows, some might actually turn it around and win.

I just wish there was a way to resign gracefully and have it show up as a loss.  Right now when people drop out I have to either quit (so the game doesn't count) or spend a few pointless minutes mopping up the AI.

Leavers suck no matter what. When it seems unwinnable and you actually pull it out it's the most rewarding win you'll get. There aren't that many games so fargone that they can't be salvaged if you're willing to work for it. If you're not willing to work for it you really shouldn't be playing a multiplayer game.

Leaving when a game is 45 mins in and you're getting roflstomped. They're in your base, your tower is at 1/2 health with giants beating the crap out of it and you're all dead. Yeah, its over and leaving really doesnt matter at that point. You still might be able to pull a miracle off, but odds are it's not happening.

However if the game is 15 minutes in there is no reason to be leaving at all. Nothing is even close to over yet. People get butthurt when they die and leave in a childish huff. You're a bad player, end of story. Adversity and experience are the greatest teachers. If you're not willing to fight when your back is against the wall you will NEVER EVER EVER get better....ever. You're skill will never increase at all. If you want to suck for the rest of your life thats your problem.

Once they get the connection issues sorted they need to start actually counting wins and losses (my record still says 4-1 online even though by this point it's got to be around 12+ - 1). Records should be listed when a player joins a game like starcraft. XXXX-XXXXX-XX so leavers can be identified or people can choose the skill level of the player they're getting into a game with. If i'm a skilled player I don't want to play someone who is 5-100. There is no challenge in it, it's just going to be me curb stomping some poor guy for no reason. If people want to play with those as a sort of "comp stomp" without the comp then they have that choice.

If your start losing halfway through pull all your items to 1 dude and maybe he will be strong enough to fight the other team and turn it around.

Just 1 suggestion.

Should i repeat this every post?..make somehow a banlist.I mean that solves so many issues, leavers, foul language, bad ping.Firstly you ban the people that have bad ping and are known to be leavers. That you do for yourself, your games.

On the global banlist, you ban those people that left in the middle of a balanced game or some hardcore people, that like swearing every 30 or so seconds. You have your replay to proove it,and the guy gets a global ban.He is not banned from the game itself, but he is banned in your games and in other people's games who have banlist and think that the guy deserves the ban.

Problem solved,no need for heavy updating, coding, and all kind of complicated stuff that would take months to make.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time until someone makes banlist for this. I'd figure the work is basically done, just change a few things. I wouldn't personally know where to even start, but I don't think it could possibly be that hard.

It makes me efficient. If my team is 5 levels above the other team and banging on their front gate, I would not care if they resigned. Why should they care if I do the same? A victory is a victory.

It's a game, not a RL war.

There are some legitimate reasons for quitting. If the game starts off unbalanced 2 vs 3 then unless the opponent has one or two AIs youre going to get screwed very quick. If your team mates do not listen to anything you type and play the lone ranger instead of as a team and keep getting owned then that is also a good reason for bailing. Its not a matter of just having the odds against you but having a frustrating match because the mechanics are borked or youre on a special olympics team.

The only time rage quitting bothers me is when everything is perfectly balanced and someone just gets their butt kicked a few times and gives up while there are other players on their team trying real hard and actually succeeding. However none of this would be a problem if the AI just wasnt so damn suicidal. If it retreated better and was more aware of its surroundings and thus played to the equivilant of at least an average player then this wouldnt be a big issue.
