The intent of the White Council is to band together a community of gamers who are interested to Galciv regularly and to contribute to improving the game while being useful members of this forum.

The pre-requiste for a White Council member is basic commitment to the above purpose. There is no requirement for you to be as clinical a finisher as "I can win in my sleep" Staffa or have the workrate of Sergey the dark horse/black sheep. :)

You might ask as to why you should join the Council where you could be a regular contributor by yourself. The White Council is an opportunity for you to belong to a small community within the big Galciv one. You would also be assured of help or assistance from your fellow Council members as needed.

Okay, I think we need a discussion here on what we would like to do with the White Council.

Though I've created this Empire and have my own aspirations, what do you guys think the Council should be? I will reserve my personal comments until you guys have made yours.

The obvious ones are as follows:
1. Dominate the Metaverse
2. Have fun with the game / share war-stories
3. Contribute to the game in some small way (projects / help newbies along / make suggestions)
4. Role-playing (wizards / LOTR)

These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. So which ones do you want the Council to do and in which priority and which do you not want?

I would especially want us to decide whether the White Council should compete in the Empire rankings on the Metaverse.

I have already made my own preference clear in earlier threads. Personally, I have withdrawn from the Metaverse as the current system tempts me to milk the game. Correspondingly, I'm not interested in how the empire does on the rankings.

Let's put this to a vote (majority rules, no veto) and make a decision on this so as not to follow the wishy-washy road that the Council took previously.

Hey, I know I am an outsider and all that, but I have always been outspoken when it came to important matters. Why can't you have all 4 at once? Be a Metaverse power, swap tall tales, help our community out, and role-play all at the same time? Isn't that what I do in my own way, balance all of the above?

If I am not seeing something straight, just let me know. But I do not see all the stated goals as inherently incompatible with each other. Sure, devoting time to one may take time from the others for any one person, but in an empire as big as yours, I think you could find time for all of the above if the labor was divided a bit.

Your contribution can come in many forms, philo.

You have already made a big contribution to the Council. Your earlier post was one among others that inspired me to resurrect the Council :)

Just join up, the only issue is whether you are allowed to join an empire without a serial no. Else join when you get the game.

That's the reason why I asked for a vote. I realised that the fact that I personally have a problem with the Metaverse doesn't mean the the Council have to be that way as well.

If the majority of the Council feel that competing in the Metaverse would be a lot of fun and a worthwhile pursuit, I'm willing to go along and have fun as well.

Hi from the most inactive Council member,

my son, Sidar, is born. I am -as you can bet- happily busy with him. Meanwhile the Council was disbanded and resurrected :SURPRISED:
But I'm glad that this break served a purpose and the Council tries to figure out its direction. My vote shouldn't be much worth (as I'm not really contributing much so far), but I'm also asked, so I would stick with 3) contibute to the game (what a surprise :p )
By for now, I'm going to watch my son sleeping... :D

So I would take it that you have chosen Purpose #3 as the overriding purpose for the Council. How about Metaverse competition? Yes or No?

Ray, concerning the metaverse competition: Well, I'm not very much interested in it, but it's sometimes amusing to follow. You pointed out that it can turn into a joy-killer, when it's overshadowing other aspects of gaming. I would like to see a continuation of our presence in the metaverse without caring about competition. That's my suggestion for the collective - anyway, individually everybody will/can follow whichever path he/she suits best.

Hey Ray,

Let me say that I'm not really sure just how far my opinion/vote goes with the group. I'm unfortunetly just a "ghost in the machine" being that I still don't have the game *whimper...whimper...as I slowly crawl back into the shadows*, however I would like to contribute to all 4. If I had to choose though I would probably pick number 2.
