UI Suggestions

Thought i would post a few suggestions up, you never know who might be reading them.

1: Impulse needs a suggestion/bug reporting box, GPG did it with Supreme Commander and it worked

great. Just select the game choose bug or suggestion then enter it and send, quick painless, and

easily logged.

2: When playing a skimish game (or any single player game), timeout should Default to Infinite, its

really confusing to go into a skimish game and go to pause it and it doesn't work, took me ages to

work out what was wrong.

3: When playing a single player game, it should default yourself to ready, there is absolutly no

reason for me to have to click another checkbox just to play a single player game.

4: In the game lobby, the demigods names should show, not the small rectular demigod images you have

now, they are extremely difficult to distingush, and when you add more demigods its only going to

get worse, you could either show the name and image, or just the name, but it would make it vastly

easier when learning the game.

5: When a a game finishes (after the scores) it should take you back to the game listing, e.g. in a

skimish game it would take you back to the game setup for skimish, in multiplayer it would take you

back to the listing of multiplayer games. Its frustrating if you are playing multiple games to be

continually put to the main menu after each game.

6: Intro movies, they play every time i load the game, i understand playing them on first load of

the game, but its highly annoying to have them show every time afterwards, i know you can esc

through them but its not nice, when im loading the game i'm wanting to play the game, not watch a

video i've already seen, its a barrier which makes the overall experience less enjoyable.

7: When viewing custom multiplayer games listing, the buttons at the bottom feel cramped, they need

to be spaced out horizontally instead of vertically. I.e stick host game on left, join game on

right, it would mean they would stand out more and i wouldn't have to be so cautious clicking the

one i want.

Ingame

8: Buying items is a real bitch, its very difficult to compare their stats as you have to hover over

each one, it would be great if the stats show below the icon so you could quickly glance at all of

them and see which one you wanted. I know theres a struggle for space, but decreasing the icon size

for this would be scarifice worth doing.

9: If im in singleplayer and i go to the menu it should pause, see suggestion 2 as it ties into

that. Its an extra step to click another button to pause the game, that is not needed in single

player.

10: When i'm buying an item and its in my inventory and the shop listing is up and i left click on

the item in my inventory, it should not use it! I'm in a menu so its an unexpected action when it

actually uses one of the items.

11: I should be able to sort items in the F1, F2, F3 positions, its annoying to have them resorted

because i ran out of one, and went to purchase more, people get used to health, mana pots in set

places then to move them because you ran out of one is annoying.

12: When looking at the skills for a demigod, would be great if it showed the difference between it

and the previous skill, i.e skill 1 gives you 200 extra damage, skill 2 gives you 300 extra damage

instead it would show skill 2 as giving you an additional 100 extra damage, that way it would be a

lot clearer about what the upgrade is when choosing that skill.

13: as soon as you start capturing a flag it should start the spinning animation, it seems to have a

pause before it starts spinning, which always makes me second guess whether im actually within

range.

14: for the mana and health bars it should show the value e.g 1000/2000 on top of the bar by

default, i shouldn't have to hover over it, its slighty more clutter but would give a lot more

feedback on the health of the character and allow better use of spells, health/mana pots. this could

be made an option in the menu.

Thats all i can think of right now, thanks for a great game.

How about adding portraits for your team so you can actually aim with a spell? Add health and mana bars to the portraits so you can easily see who could use a helping hand. And show your summons so you can keep track of how many are still around.

Frankly, I just want to be able to see a Custom Match's gametype before I connect.

The party thing would be very useful, especially playing as Sedna or something. I wouldn't bitch if it wasn't implemented, as then it would just promote communication. I play a lot of 2v2 though, so I guess I really wouldn't benefit from it.

11 = yes. It is pretty annoying not being able to sort your items.

8 + 4, ehh, I kind of got use to it and figured out what items to buy and what portrait represents what Demigod.

6, you would absolutely die when playing EA PC games. They FORCE you to watch the EA intro movie in CnC3 and Crysis. You can't skip it, and every other intro is skippable. If I didn't know better, I would say that EA is slightly... narcisstic?

I agree and I like the additions from kribby also. The intro movies usually have an in game option to skip them at least for games made since about 2 yrs ago.

I dunno when I was young (teens early 20ties) i lived to see the intro movie when I first got the game installed. Now I don't remember a single intro movie I have watched in the last 5 years. Either I escape immidiately through them if you can't skip them I go do something else and come back later to a main menu.

Excellent idea, would make a lot of sense to add this info.
