Why doesn't it start right away? I don't see much logic in this.
Give the winners time to throw their party. Seriously, I want my cake!
I hope it starts sooner than that. Only a few custom games up, where as I could get into Pantheon games fairly quickly.
Well, how about a little less than 5 days? 
I don't see the point in waiting at all, though. It takes several days for another 500k to be made.
They are probably going to change the way pantheon scores and such are. It's the first REAL tourneyment, give them some time to evaluate the process and fix any needed changes.
I would assume that the delay is to give Stardock/Gas Powered Games the time to test and publically release the next patch or perform network maintenance. Otherwise I definitely do not see the point.
I would hazard a guess that it was just a default setting that they can overide at any time.
Play Skirmish while waiting for the next Pantheon. Skirmish uses code that is very similar to the Pantheon, so you should get in just as quickly (if not quicker).
The server automatically creates a new Pantheon tournament 5 days after the current one finishes. T-Man may change the date to something earlier, but that's up to him and Frogboy.

It'd be cool if the winners get a bunch of bonus favor points or something, then immediately start the tourny over. The pantheon matches are my favorite thing about demigod (when they work) The idea of being matched up with random players around my skill level without clanstacking jerks is one of the big draws to demigod for me. And fighting for dark or light brings back fond memories of representin' the ARM back on the boneyards. 
Waiting for a new tourny to start is sort of a bummer, especially since the weekend is my prime gametime.
I just want to mention that Russian site AG.ru together with Snowball/1C/NVidia announced a tournament with video cards as prizes, starting on 21th of April and continuing for a week. The winners should be decided based on experience in Pantheon. It looks like that tournament is busted. Please see http://www.ag.ru/quiz_demigod if you know Russian.
For me it was fast games with rank tracking. I tried for about an hour and a half to get into a skirmish today and I can't get one started. I either get the kicked message or game not responding.
Oh man, do I *ever* miss Boneyards play and trying to conquer the galaxy in Total Annihilation. To be fair, though, I was on the CORE side. . . you will be assimilated into a pure robotic form, ARM terrorist!
Yup.
And um, yeah... Skirmish is very similar, but in the Pantheon you have a greater goal, so it's somehow more fun.

Its amazing how many awesome features TA had that you still don't see these days.
If I was ruler of the universe Total Annihilation would be what starcraft is now. I always thought it was so much cooler.
Supreme Commander does have most of these things going for it, it could really use a pantheon/boneyards ish laid back tournament system... Hopefully once GPG is done fixing up Demigod and raking in tonnes of money we'll see something like that.

Personally, I would rather wait 5 days or so and give them time to work out the bugs. I mean, I played the very first day with my friends on custom maps and then a few days later, I wanted in on the prestige of Pantheon. But, none of my data was being recorded and points were being reset, et cetera. So, hopefully these few days are enough to take away a bunch of annoying things.

Pantheon is the main reason I play Demigod. I have a great time in it. Now you are telling me another won't start for 5 more days? I could understand that the first delay is intentional to focus on tweaks and changes to the system but to hear it's an intentional default delay... ludicrous. Not exactly what I wanted to read as I get off work for the weekend.
Lol that's awesome that the Light won, one night I see Light's down by 10k, next day I see the Light won, freaking hilarious
