Please remove the ping section in the game.

Yes I'm from asia but this for sure not going to be the real reason why the internet game is lagging.

I've played lots of US server based games and I hardly have the ping involves which I'm lagging or such, but I bought this game but I couldn't even enjoy of the multiplayer due to the player saw my ping showing 250ms - 300ms around and starting to kick me almost every single game.

I am quite piss as I can play DOW2 online with no problem at all in multiplayer (no lag), playing other MMO which has no lag at all too.  EVEN FPS I'm doing SUPERB in us server!!

But this game shouldn't judge as the ping difference and I totally think they should remove the ping section.  Is very unfair to the consumer since the lag issue should be involve by the performance of the PC and the game technical issue, not us !!

So it's not the fact that you're several thousand kms away from the host that makes the game lag then? High ping will generally mean a poor connection, and will likely lead to slow downs in game. I'm in Australia, and no matter what name I use when hosting games, I still have several people from Europe or the US join, and they have 400 - 500 ping, so I kick them. If I couldn't see their ping, I'd start the game and only then discover how shit it's going to run.

Solution: play on Asian servers, or get some friends to buy it and play with them. Or play pantheon, so they can't kick you.

So we should get rid of a tool that is really useful for everyone just because you dont like it?  Wouldn't it be better to ask for something that improves your ping?

In Supreme Commander, everything below a Ping of 500 is fine. I don't know if the same thing still applies to Demigod.

Indeed, kinking pings of 250-300 seems excessive.

But yeah, asking for such a handy tool to be removed is not the solution. They should fix the people kicking you for a ping thats probably fine. ;)

I start noticing it fairly badly with around 300 in this game, games starts to hiccup alot.

All the games I host I put 250 ping max in the game name. I don't care if you live in Antartica, if it is under 250 I'll let you in. Any more than that and, well host your own game if you like.

Well, those hiccups could also be caused by a player who has an unsteady connection to one of the other players and it's not necessarely related to ping.

totally agreed with Spooky.  Also one thing I should mention probably is the performance of the PC that made the connection hiccups.  If that the case should lower down the requirement of the game (at least thats the case in Warhammer 40K DOW2.

I just did a little research and hopefully when the Asia version came out there are more asian to host the server to join.  I know there is nothing can do to prevent the kicking happens :(   All I wish for is that players won't get too "excited" when seeing high pingers around 250ms coz there will be no lag at all I'm sure.

Anyway, not to mention I've been insulted by some of the people in the lobby while seeing me 250-300ms, so yea don't get too excited.

If I have yet to get them in a game with people under 250 ping I'll stick to that approach. Like I said, you are more than welcome to host your own custom games - the only game type ping is even shown in before you join.

no, this p2p system doesnt work with ping >200

game lags a lot

actually you're completely wrong, but continue spreading wrong information, its really cool.

ive played tons of pantheon games with zero lag and i have 300 ping to anyone outside of australia.

no you are

i tried playing with ppl in usa too since my connection is good i had less than 200 with everyone and the game freezed a lot

right now the game performs well only with same area zone and decent ping

nothing wrong about it btw but you cant blame ppl for wanting to have a good playing experience or blame stardock for ppl connection that sux

Most people who play are plain ignorant and don't understand the difference between p2p and client/server. I see lots of people, mostly swedes (surprise surprise) who kick anyone with a ping above 100.

demigod uses a net_lag of 350ms so anything below that is fine when it is steady, it will take some time til people realize this though.

im not sure whether you are trying to emphasise that in a good or bad way.

anyway.

If its anything like dow2, the lag is probably caused by idiots with computers so bad that they should not be anywhere near a computergame.

In a good way ;). As long as every player has a ping below 350 to every other player and as long as the connection is steady, there will be no stutter.

Just had another game with around the ping 300ms.

Plays through fine !!!

I just hope more and more people realized this point, but I understand some people wanted to have the best experience of the game, but which is fine to me.

But just hopefully this thread can make all the people know that 350ms is not a big deal.

:p

its NOT like that

i did MANY games trying to check how it works with usa

it just DOESNT

its not theory

it is like that, in games with usa if you ping 200 the game is just not playable, at least EVERY SINGLE TIME i tried it

but anyway i dont get 1 thing: WHY ON EARTH you want to force ppl to play with 300 ping if they can play with 100?

its just plain dumb

find players from your zone and play with them for now, after proxies are set up we will see

The game you just had was with verspunken and i, it ran like a slideshow.

That's BS dolmong. I was in that game, and it was lagging like crazy - your ping was spiking between 300 and 550 constantly. If I'd been the host rather than fireslide, I would have kicked you from the lobby.

I've been playing with US from Europe with 200-250 ping and it was perfectly fine.

Most of time, heavy lags come from unstable connexions like wireless, lack of uploading bandwidth or spikey connexion. Rares is a player playing Demigod in graphic settings his computer cannot handle, thus creating a burden on the CPU and creating lag in the network interface.

Ping is an indication, but it's not the only thing creating the lag. It's more like a chance. The higher the ping, the higher the probability for the game to lag, but not necessarely, far from it.

Most US citizens have shity connexion, especially upload. If you get a good one, the game will be lag free. Asia, especially Korea and Japan have incredible connexion speed and stability, so kicking one because he has a ping of 300 would be stupid as his connexion is probably more stable than the guy living less than 100km from you.

If the ping spikes, then his connection was unstable and could not provide a steady stream. The lagging itself has nothing to do with the ping of 300.

Do not listen to ddd888, he is a ping nazi.
