In game chat problems

so when i hit shift+tab and then the "chat" button it brings up a new window with nothing in it besides the few commands it shows like /nick and such. i dont see any members names on the right side of it and i cant talk to anyone and when i type /channel demigod it says "ur now in channel #demigod" but i still dont see anyone. I ask other people and they all say they can see other players. So i dont know what im doing wrong but i would like some help please.

Update the game. If the in-game chat sends you to #demigod, you're running an outdated version.

it doesnt say there is an update for the game, it says my version is .0105  and if there is an update i need how do i get it?

Im still having issues here and nothing has been solved, some just straight foward help would be awsome instead of questions with no follow up and guesses that didnt help with no follow up
