Massive lag spikes every 45-60 seconds

Near as I can tell, this just started for me with the last patch. I could connect to games and play since launch, even when there were tons of problems. I have everything configured as best as I can manage. Basically I connect quickly with everyone, have perfectly fine ping in the lobbies. However, as soon as the game starts, I periodically get huge spikes where the game lags and my ping to everyone jumps up to like 300-400 for a split second then returns to normal. I have no background tasks or programs running, no downloads and no other PCs connected to my network.

Ideas?

Is your operating system vista and if it is are you using a wireless connection?

I have the problem from day 1. But in my case it's worse, the spikes go as far as 1400...I can only play 2v2 games, if i'm lucky maybe 3v3.

Vista 64, no router, no wireless, no firewall.

It's strange that in the last days i see more and more posts about this problem...

sorry Dead Ghost if you used a wireless connection i could help but since you don't i don't know what's wrong with your connection.

SkepticalMind seems to still be having this problem. In the lobby he will have a decent ping. Once he is in the game it bounces from 120ish to 1200ish.

Again, It may worth being noted that we were playing a 5v5 on the beta patch.

Yep, I'm still having this problem, although it's progressed to the point that the spikes are near constant. I'm using a wired connection on Vista Home Premium 64. The problem still exists even if I connect directly to my modem with absolutely every form of firewall, anti-virus or background tasks disabled.

You won't find a solution to it on your end, its purely Stardock at fault and it will require them to fix it. Just going to have to hold your hats and pray they fix it quickly.

That's not looking likely though, considering only a handful of people have this problem opposed to the huge percentage of the playerbase that can't even connect to a game. I'm usually the last person to point a finger at the game, but I think I've really gone above and beyond my user end in regard to trying to solve this problem. Absolutely nothing even dents it, even when most of the variables are gone.

This problem only occurs when more than three other users are connected in a game. 2v2 games are totally devoid of this problem I have found. In a 3v3 game, if two people drop, the spikes stop immediately. The more people, the more frequent the spikes.
