My only option for buying Demigod is through Gamestop..... sigh.

Will I be forgiven? Will I have the strength to just be patient until I get income rather than selling my old games to Gamestop to get Demigod despite the fact that Gamestop is one of the pivotal reasons for Demigods shaky launch?

I am in a dilemna.

I hate Gamestop with a passion. I absolutely abhor Gamestop, and not just because of the Demigod Launch Fiasco. I'm a broke college student, and want this game so bad it's rediculous... and like I said, the only way I can acquire the game is through gamestop (I am no lowly pirate either). I'm the type of person (a musician) who strongly favors paying the artist, creator, developer, so on and so forth of a particular piece of art upfront, rather than giving the money to a store. I know what's it like pouring your soul into something and relishing in a creative outlet and wanting to be recognized for what I do. That's what makes this so hard.

But I want this game so bad. :S

Shop somewhere else?  Your explanation on why you have to is ambiguous to me.

I don't have any money at the moment. My only option is to sell old games at Gamestop if I want to get Gamestop now.

Sell your old games on ebay, or you could get comparable credit to what gamestop will give you for them just by handing them to the garbage man.

I'm thinking Ebay too. Problem is, that might take awhile, plus it costs money. I'll be able to put a few listings, which I'm going to, but it's not guaranteed they will sell, thus I'd be making loss and not being able to get Demigod, heh.

I say totally sell your soul...}:) MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA}:) . I bought demigod at gamestop....before it was supposed to come out:blush: :( ....I'm not proud of it but there it is. I stuck to single player but that doesn't excuse me grrrrr CURSE YOU GAMESTOP!

I assume buying Demigod through Stardock would be the most beneficial for the developer. So save up some money and then get it through Impulse. :)

Heh heh, it's alright Granolan. :P Man... I've always hated Gamestop.

Wait if you can! Stardock gets more mula through impulse :D

Exactly Arnie, that's what I would 100 percent prefer to do, the wait is just killing me that's all. Being in college, there's no telling when I'll get some spending money since all my money goes to paying off the college loans, heh heh. Might be a few weeks before I would be able to buy the game off of impulse.

What games do you have. You might be able to make a sale through here if you list em.

Worth a shot?

Neilo, Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri, Warcraft 2 - 3, Oregon Trail 2, Motorhead, Mirrors Edge, Final Fantasy 12, Chrono Cross, Sid Meiers Civilization 2, and tons more. Obviously the pc games can't be sold at gamestop, but I have plenty of psp games and ps2 games that I'd be selling at gamestop or on here. I have tons of pc games for sale if anyone is interested. Mostly old classics, aside from Mirrors edge. I have atleast 20 classic pc games I could sell. Just let me know if you want to know more games I could sell or are interested anyone.

Hmmm you've piqued my curiosity. I'd consider gifting you a copy via impulse (if that can be done) for a few of those games. PM me with what you'd be willing to part with and perhaps we could make a deal.

*note* PC, PS2, or PS3 games only.

Heh heh. I did some work around the neighborhood, painting houses for the extra cash. I finally own Demigod now. lol. I must say it's pretty awesome. Very easy to pick up, but a bitch to master with all the various builds and strats as well team play elements. I was not let down in purchasing Demigod, and am very happy with it. I'll be testing Online after I've found a afavorite character playing single player for a few hours. I got the game from Best Buy, which is not as bad as Gamestop I suppose, but I still feel bad for not being able to purchase through Impulse because of a debit card error (the girlfriend wouldn't let me).

Thanks for the offer Crash, appreciate it. I'll probably end up putting those games into a mega bundle for cheap on Ebay if you're still interested.

You could have saved yourself some work and sold your games to Amazon. They now buy used games a la Gamestop AND they give you more money. Well, at least you got it already so I guess there isn't any harm done.

And I suggest playing multiplayer. Some people in Skirmish are worst than bots, and it helps to know whether or not you can even play multiplayer before you start practicing.

A bit of commentary on the industry (I work for a game dev company);

Gamestop may not be your favorite retailer and they may have created problems for Stardock but the "route of most revenue" for a developer is not always the first preference.  Companies like Gamestop (US) buy lump quantities.  Let's say 25,000 first run.  If they sell 18,000 in the first week or month then the company might order another batch of 30,000 for their stores, meaning more exposure/shelf space.  So don't feel guilty for buying from any legitimate retailer, every sale is important.

End of Gabbelgak's quote

Better yet, look around for small retro shops.  You'll usually get cold hard cash instead of trade-in points.  Plus, you'll be supporting the little guys.
