Playing Demigod under Gameranger

To put it short:

It's as it should have been from the first place.

Start a lobby, get people in, start the game, everyone instantly connects. If there are yellow pings, reconnects as instant aswell.

Once the game is started there are way fewer and shorter freezez, and people are more likely to stay till the end.

The only way I can play demigod multiplayer is using the pirated version on Gameranger.

I've owned the game since release, but I either crash or fail to connect using the official servers. On the other hand I can start a game in less than 5 mins on Gameranger.

I see posts on this forum flaming people for pirating the game or telling them to buy the original copy, but for me, using the cracked copy is the only way to enjoy some multiplayer in this game. Its ridiculous to say the least.

As far as I can tell, the pirated version is way better thanks to Gameranger, even if they play an older version.

Until they properly fix the game, I'll be using gameranger, and if there won't be many people with legal copies on gameranger, I guess I'll download the pirated version and enjoy that.

Just so sick and tired of excuses and interviews with the devs, blaming this and that. Rewrite the whole networking part and cut the bullshit. Do what Blizzard did, so what if those behind routers can't host, at least everybody can enjoy the freaking game without waiting 30 minutes to connect to a game that will be over in 10 minutes.

stop using broken products as a scapegoat to pirate.

Your tool there is to get a REFUND or outright not buy the game. Thats it. Pirating it is the wrong way to go.

I tried to play gameranger with the legitimate version, and I was kicked out of all games because they all use the pirated version.

I bought the retail version, I haven't had too much of a problem with online play. I read somewhere that gameranger has voicechat though, do enough people who own the legit release play it on there? Do I still get favor and stats and all that good stuff?

There's plenty of us playing legit on gameranger - just join games clearly marked 'legit' and you won't have a problem. Never have to wait too long for a game...

sounds good, is gameranger only for custom games and does that net some favor points? Pantheon can't be played through gameranger can it?

obviously not, no.

It sucks when a 3rd party program works better than their impulse nat connector.  Gameranger doesn't even have reflection/proxy servers.  So I'm not sure if reflection/proxy servers is going to help impulse.

have fun playing the unpatched, unbalanced pirated version. only the casual players will play it anyway which leaves room for the good players on legit versions

Don't think so, while us 'legit' players struglle to get a freaking game going for 30 minutes and end it in 10, the one eyed pirates have already played 2 games and still hunger for more.

Also, there are maybe 1 or 2 1.05 games there and 30 more 0.91, so yeah, they are playing the crap out of it.
