Why do some matches go 2vs1?

I've been in both a Pantheon and a regular multiplayer skirmish that has pitted either two players against just me (no ai even) and once with me and another player vs another (naturally, he quit after first death). Is this intentional for some reason or another bug?

At one point in the beta that was going to be a feature that pitted high ranked players against more numerous lower ranked players.  I've been told by other testers since that they scrapped that.  So, as to this being a bug or a leftover feature, I don't know.

My best guess right now is that it's a bug where the AI doesn't always take over when a player drops before the game is finished loading.

are you sure they scrapped that? I never heard that and Frogboy seems to like that feature a lot. Anyway i could be wrong...

This i due to the "host" of the game kicking players before it starts, most of the time. Say its originally a 2v2, but before it starts either the host kick the ai (cause he dont like ai:s) or the player that too slow to connect "is not connected to anyone". When it starts, it will only contain the remaining players. Something funny i did once and you can try yourselves, is kick any other players when you become the "host" (you have access to the kick function) and the game will start with only you and mobs =) hilarious.

It's being done intentionally now by quite a few though, starting to become a problem if you can "force" a 2v1 game and therefore pretty much garuntee the win...

number of times now i either get kicked while the game is connecting, or everyone else gets kicked and I'm left to fight 2v1 is getting stupid

i agree this is a serious problem. so is the favour items, and the demigods not responding to your attack commands once in awhile, costing you a kill. however there are more serious problems taking precedence right now. (network connectivity) :D

True.  I have had an AI just sit in the middle of the map and do nothing for 20 minutes (not even move).  It was odd.

End of bluhoney1's quote

If that's the cause it would be difficult to take advantage of.  On the connecting screen you can't tell what side a player is on (in pantheon) unless you've played them before.  In skirmish a player could end up on any side.  You could easily kick the guy that was supposed to be on your team instead.

I've had this happen to me and the two I had to fight; playing as Rook and Regulus with me as UB, were utter twats. They were rubbish in a straight fight, but used practically every trick in the book to win and wouldn't dare go more than a few steps from each other because I managed to get quite a lot of kills out of them. Because of the map design allowing them to keep two neutral portals, my chances were too slim and I had to spend money on citadel upgrades to delay their progress(Fortress) rather than getting equipment. They were quite obviously using the Favor exploit too.

What idiot thought of this?
