Demigod Wednesday update

Status

We're waiting on some bug fixes from RakNet (they're the company that supplies the networkintg libraries) to incorporate into what we and GPG have been working on.  When we get those in, which we're hoping will be today, we can start putting up a new build.

The new Demigod build we plan to put up though will be marked as a BETA as we are going to begin the transition to the proxy server system we have previously been discussing.

See the Journals for more info.

Update: GPG has made significant progress on the infamous disconnect issue so we're going to hold off on this update. Stay tuned.

I know it has been said before, but I dont think it can really be said enough.  The constant communication between the You guys/gals (the studios) and us guys/gals (the players) is really what is saving this game and making it something more then "just another $40".  It is so greatly appreciated to know WHAT you are working on as well as WHEN we can expect things.  Not to mention the fact that you put it in "laymans" terms so that even people who aren't exactly tech "savy" can understand it.

Thanks again GPG/Stardock, you are making something so good out of a situation that started so poorly!

Updated again.

And thanks guys.

This level of communication won't be going away either, as GalCiv users can tell you (and Sins players) we tend to try to hang around long term.  It's just with Demigod, we've had an unprecedented initial..."launch". :)

Wait, I'm a little confused. The game is already retail released, but is going to be put back on beta status?

I have to say, I was tempted to give up on Demigod after I couldn't play online for practically the first week. However due to the level of commitment and communication that I've seen from folks such as Brad I've stuck around and things definitely seem to be improving.

It just goes to show that openness, honesty, and constant communication are key. The number one rule of business ethics: "Tell it all, tell it fast". You guys have my utmost respect.

Beta status regarding proxy servers.  More along the lines of testing for people that are still having problems connecting online.

That's good to hear, because GPG had even greater levels of communication when SupCom came out, and not only did it "go away," it's still gone.

I was not impressed at all with gas powered games version of multi player. not excited to see them involved with this game. Has gpg ever done anything really well because i can think of several games they have made with crummy multi player. Sup com was never good as i recall for multi.

So, the update will be tomorrow then?

I'm hoping so.  We got new builds from GPG and Raknet and I hear the dev team in the lab outside my office going through integration now.

Looking forward to being able to play multiplayer!

We had so much trouble getting a custom game going last night that 6 of us jumped on hamachi instead.... pretty sad :P
