I, too, was from the Dota club. I'm not having any trouble seeing the differences between each and appreciating each for its own merits. Some mechanics in Demigod leaves me puzzled:
1) No creep collision results in chasing down to who has stun/slow abilities and who runs faster.
2) Reinforcements are little help when defending against an aggressive demigod. In Dota, the entire allied creep wave attacks the enemy demigod when he/she attacks yours.
3) Some spells are oddly designed with effects that are too situational to be consistently useful.
That said, the things I love about Demigod that Dota doesn't have:
1) Upgradable reinforcements, towers and citadel add a whole new layer of possibilities
2) Capturable flags for extra effects.
3) Very varied builds for the same Demigod.
Some nuances:
1) Unable to see your own HP and MP exact amount till you mouse over the bars on the UI.
2) Unable to see your allies/enemies's MP/items to plan any counters to their builds.
3) Can't click/ping on minimap.
