Re-installing windows

If I want to re-install windows, what do I have to back up in my direct-purchased games ( Demigod and Sins ) so I can install them later ? or do I need to re-download them anyway ?

in Impulse, you have the option of archiving your games; do that.

the archives should be *.impulse files. keep copies of those and you should be able to restore your Impulse games without any further trouble (you may have to re-activate them, but that'll only take you 2 minutes once you've got Windows re-installed).

ok, let me try to describe this foolproof :

go to "My Games" tab. right-click on the game. select "archive application". repeat for all games in the list ( 2 games, in my case ) ( btw, it's been archiving 15 mins now and 25% done ). save all .impulse files .

Re-install windows. copy the .impulse files back to somewhere on drice c: ( doesn't matter where ? ). activate impulse ( how do I activate impulse after re-install ? is the impulse program also in one of those .impulse files ? ). go to "my games" tab. where to click now ?

Thx : )

well obviously you have to reinstall Impulse before you restore those archives; that's like trying to open *.doc files without without MS Word. the option to restore archives is in the Orb, so you don't have to go to My Games at all; just point Impulse at the archive files and it'll do it's job.

on that note; the archive files don't need to be an a specific place either.

since i've had to explain that; i'm concerned you're in above your head when it comes to reinstalling Windows. are you absolutely sure you've got the discs for every program you need, as well as the drivers for all your hardware?

if you don't have those, don't nuke Windows until you do.

(and no, i don't need any smart arse pointing out the other programs that can open *.doc files. XP)
