game runs terribly slow but my comp is fine

K, lets get this out of the way first:

- newest sound, vid drivers installed
- Autoupdated to most recent game patch as of May 3

Comp specs:
- AMD Anthalon 3500+ (2.21Ghz)
- 2 GB Ram
- Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT vid card
- Creative SB X-Fi sound card

Symptoms:
- Upon starting, first issue noticed is that the voices are clippy / repeat themselves in the avatar select screen
- Gameplay gets progressively slower / CPU burden increases as game progresses. Directly related to amount of action taking place
- Audio clipping also occurs during the tournament end movie.

Diagnostics:
- I run native 1280 x 1024 with dual monitors.
- First dropped all graphic settings to lowest possible but kept the game in native resolution.
- Next dropped everything to the bottom and dropped resolution to 1024x768
- Also tried dropping audio quality

None of the above diagnostic actions succeeded in improving performance. This makes me assume it's a CPU load issue more than a graphic load issue. I don't believe it's a sound card issue because the in game sound is fine. After doing a forum search I found another person with the same problem of audio clipping in the select screen, and slow gameplay, but he also had a decent system. So it's not just me. (His post did not recieve any actionable suggestions)

Has anyone heard of solutions to this problem? I have no issue running other graphics intense games such as COD 4 and Oblivion. As of now the game just isn't enjoyable because of this heavy lag.

yeah, your CPU is too weak. single-core CPU's simply aren't enough for Demigod.

you may be able to squeeze some extra performance out of the game by appending /noSound to your shortcut, but that will only get you so far.

Do a search for simspeed, the engine that runs that supcom and demigod is not for the faint hearted (cpu's)

After more research I found the issue. Incompatibility with their sound programming and my Motherboard / Soundcard mix. Known issue that affects lots of people.

The issue is being worked on in this thread:

My CPU is actually fine for this game. With /nosound, I can run on high settings at high resolution and even with alot of action it's fine.
