Map maker?

please!

Hello,

I was wondering if there were any plans to release a map maker so we can have custom maps.  There really aren't many maps for this game, especially of the "right" size for your match, and I don't think they'd be too tough to make. Also, in general what are we looking at for modding support in this game.  Seems important in a game like this.

Each map is a full 3d model. :P

So?

I'd be fine with a bunch of flags on a flat slate if it meant new stuff. :D

Well a simple version could be released. Where instead of having to make this whole little awesome world you just make the plain platforms and walkways with very basic shapes. And later on if they wanted to they could add more simple patterns.

Now that could be done fairly easily.

Hasn't the full 3d model thing been debated? I personally have no idea, nor give a damn, just saying.

Even if they are full 3d you underestimate some peoples skill and the amount of time some people have on their hands =)

Some basic building blocks, flags and structures, as well as a lane planner is all that would be needed.  Maybe customized background choices, too.

They(Stardock and GPG) may want hold off releasing a map maker because they want to create new maps of there own and sell them to help fund the continued support they are offering for the game. If they released a map maker people could just copy there maps and they wouldn't get money for them. If I was them I wouldn't release a map maker just yet, down the line when they plan to offer less support so that the game can continue with user content but not now.

The game will need this long-term if it wants to survive the sands of time.
