An idea from warcraft 3

There is a map for War3 TFT called "Battle Tanks".  It is nearly the last map that I still play and very much enjoy on the game.  It surprisingly has a large amount of detail to it which keeps it entertaining.  So I was thinking that maybe the Demigod team could look for some idea's from this map and improve upon them.

Here is the website for the map itself:

http://www.btanks.net/v2/

I truly do believe this map do have great idea's in it.  I hope the Demigod team doesn't shrug this off... as this map is currently holding my interest far better than Demigod.

Rather than having the devs spend their time mining through the site for information that isn't going to tell them as much as playing the game themselves, you might want to share a few ideas and experiences from the game that you think would be useful for them to know, and how those ideas could be applied to Demigod. Just to make it easier on these folks who have be working 70 hour weeks trying to get the game working. :D

Instead of suggesting a team of busy developers to take a look at a fun map you should try to tell them whats good about that game.

I have played it and there are no memorys of any great ideas.

So please summerize whats good in this map and which changes from it would improve Demigod.

...because demigod definitely needs more ideas from Warcraft 3!

Alright, sorry for my vague post earlier; was a little busy and wanted some responses asap.

But some of the idea's I like most about that particular map are:
-There are more than two directions where the armies travel
-There are many different "heroes" to choose from and you can change which one you control mid-game (although I know Demigod will never have that feature, perhaps some kind of upgrades that can increase the skill-tree and level cap where you can choose one of several skill paths to go down but cannot rechoose if you dislike your choice)
-The AI are surprisingly intelligent
-There are many unique items which can also be upgraded (although buying new items of the same type may be more worth the money, upgrading them can help with inventory space and a quick damage bonus rather than needing to go back to the shop to buy a new item)
-There are basic environment bonuses/handicaps, like elevated terrain and vision empairment
-You can actually buy unique items that can make a small forward base (for smaller maps this wouldn't be effective, but for any future larger maps it can be advantagous)

Well those are the things I enjoy about the map the most.  And regarding ZebraFox's post... it may be a War3 map, but it was a custom map with a couple of people's unique (and some taken) idea's.  So it wouldn't be taking idea's from War3, but rather using idea's from people who decided to express their imagination via War3.  It's actually growing to be a sophisticated map...

Another feature that I would like to see is in the maps.  Simply put, I would like some detail in them, like tree's, mountains, ruins, etc.  I just find it a little boring without some detail.  I hope that the Demigod team is already considering these features.

I do enjoy the game quite a bit.  The only reason I bought the game is because it is from Stardock and they are a great company who actually listens to their fans.  I know they are doing their best and if none of the features I listed in this topic can be implemented, I know it's because they don't have the time and are more than likely working on even better features.

Oh, and I also wanted to mention that my girlfriend is really enjoying this game and she brought to my attention her desire for a Demigod that rides a polar bear.  I think it would be nice, too. :)

When you think about it, sedna ought to ride a polar bear -- but instead they made her a god damn nightelf clone, minus the ridiculous ears.

Riding armored bears? Everyone knows that Bear Cavalry would be totally OP. Maybe Iorek Byrnison will be his own Demigod. And Priestess of the Moon clone? Seriously, though. At least she isn't an archer? Sedna ought to get a couple special attacks that actually make use of her harpoon though, cause that's a pretty cool idea for a weapon.

Unfortunately, the AI could use some work in Demigod. However, seeing as Battletanks has heroes who largely play themselves (for those of you who don't know, all of their items function like Rook's archers and towers, seeking their own targets at random), there isn't much that needs to be DONE abuot the AI. Many of the other ideas are interesting, but I don't think upgrading skill trees and level caps would be very good for the game at all. Caster characters (TB) would suffer a nerf compared to characters with a great deal of passives. That's what a lot of people hate about non-competitive DotA games.

Well, I see your point regarding AI improvement in Demigod.  Without even looking at another game, I think they could improve the AI.  Watching them run behind enemy towers to get a kill usually turns out badly for them, although that was my only source of experience and gold playing against AI in the singleplayer tournament on nightmare difficulty.

I too agree that Senda should have ridden a polar bear.  In fact, I actually thought she did based on the packaging of the game.  That was one of the selling points for me. :P  Because a polar bear would be much nicer than a cat.  And I never thought of it because of the Golden Compass. :P ...maybe that could be some sort of different skill tree for Sedna??  Being able to ride a polar bear instead of a cat.

Those all seem like war3 ideas, maybe one or two of them actually being unique to the map.

Regardless, all needed ideas nonetheless. Especially the maps. They need to OVERHAUL these brickroad chess platforms made overly simplified for dyslexic ADD crack addicts that can't process multiple thoughts without seizures.

Eh, the stages may be simple, but at least they're really pretty XD
