NOTE: Tuesday morning Demigod Status

Before a hundred posts drown the forums:

The main build of Demigod (public) has been slightly updated to prepare for the Proxy server move that is scheduled for Thursday.

The beta build of Demigod (for those who turn on "show pre-release" in Impulse) will get a new Impulse Reactor that tests DIRECT CONNECT. This build is only useful for those who have proper port forwarding otherwise it'll cause you pain.

The "big day" is Thursday afternoon, EST.

Thanks for the heads up. So the update that was released on impulse was strictly for preparing for the proxy update, and the beta is the one that might help some users problems? I'm just trying to figure out if the new impulse update came with any other connection fixes besides preparing for proxies, or if the beta is what contains the fixes.

Again, thank you for your time, patience, and hard work. Demigod really is a great game and deserves recognition not only of itself but of the companies backing it as well.

Oh, I didn't know that the direct connect update was a beta. Would I still need to be able to connect to the NAT facilitator, when I use that update?

Thanks for the update Draginol. I was just pullin my hair out thinking MP had gone from BAD to WORSE. I personally don't want to fudge around with the port forwarding thing so Thursday it is. Fingers-crossed!!!!

I got on and wondered what the heck was going on. No games online, skirmish sets me up with 7 ai. Trying to go back now although I'm just worried about losing achievments lol.

So if i want to be sure portforwarding is working i need to use the beta. Hmm, going to try to setup my internal network to use that. Going to setup my 2 gaming systems this evening.

I actually got out at 12:15, so it wasn't an all nighter for me...by yeah, it'll be nice to get these MP updates finalized and polished so the team can enjoy a nice break from this crunch  :(

just downloaded the beta build. so far its amazing.

I was last player to join in on a 4v4 and it took me about 3seconds to connect

I don't see why people are sorry about developers pulling all nighters - that is exactly what developers sign up for :).  We all know some of the best coding happens at 4.a.m in the morning when you are in the zone on auto pilot :P

 

On a side note, looks like a few new bugs in the beta build, some you already know of

1. Sim speed 0 for yourself (which you already know)

2. When you finish a multiplayer custom game, it sits at the awards screen and you can not get out of it.  At first glance it seems like the interface has locked up, however it hasn't.  If you are in windowed mode and press the X to close it, the interface prompts you to exit to windows.  So it doesn't seem to be unresponsive, just some other interface issue.

 

We did manage to get a 3v2 going last night, though we had to swap hosts because the first host couldn't connect to everyone - so far it doesn't seem much different to the non-beta version and we all have ports open etc.  Hopefully the next round fixes some stuff.
