Is it the game giving that error after the update, or is Impulse giving you an error when you try to update?

I've got this error, and it gives me the error while trying to update--i.e., the status window at the bottom of Impulse says this message and stops progress. If I try to resume, it adds a tiny amount of additional progress, then quickly stops and gives the error again. After several attempts, it eventually cancels the update, saying the update file is "larger than expected".

We have had a report that the non-negative number error was due to AVG antivirus running in the background. The larger than expected error is also typical of firewall/antivirus/antispyware software running. I would suggest adding an exception for Impulse.exe within your security software if you have any.

If you still cannot get anywhere, send us an email to [email protected] with your Impulse error log and your startup/dxdiag information. Information on how to do this can be found here: https://forums.stardock.com/341573

Thanks for the info, I'll give this a shot. Is there a chance that the update could be screwed up because of all these failed attempts? (My understanding of updating software is rudimentary at best.)

I'm a friend of Alucardsown and he's been messing with this problem since the patch went live on Tuesday.

It's giving him a "Non-negative number required" through Impulse when trying to download the patch.

He has disabled his antivirus completely, removed firewalls, port forwarded, bridged his modem, direct connected his modem to his computer, all with the same result.

Whereas I've had no problems with a firewall/router.

I've tried helping him but couldn't come up with anything, even after doing some research on potential fixes.
