Rage Quitters

Is anyone else getting the problem with teammates or enemies faced with an actual challenge dropping out? I say rage quit, even with the connection issues, as it tends to happen either at the first death or after a few deaths in a row.

Its really bringing me down.

yes, it's annoying. I usually remember the name of who it was and tend not to match with them again. Or if I do I give them shit about it.

On the other hand, because you get so much gold from killing heroes, once you get a large leg up in kills, you get a large cash advantage.

Assuming the team with the cash advantage uses it properly, you're pretty screwed.  Once they get the critical citadel upgrades + gear and start really pushing you, there's little you can do to stop them except hope they do something stupid.

Dude, you DO realize that is the objective, right?

Its not to conquest, its not to capture flags, its not to destroy keeps

it is to make the other team ragequit.  It's the primary objective

That is the only playable mode.

You'd think so...  I find that this doesn't hold true much of the time though...

Funny how many people there are out there who don't want to play with quitters, yet have a tendency to do it themselves.

I dont mind quitters if they got kilt at the beginning part of the game to a 7 to 1 ratio. its those that the game just started and they die then leave.

mid to late game kills is not that big of deal.

I never rage quit. If I'm getting hosed because I haven't played optimally, then I give the other team the courtesy of their deserved win and anyway I like the challenge of trying to turn things around (we can all remember times when that's happened). There's nothing you can do to prevent rage quitters.  You can't even tell if they are rage quitting given the state of connectivity issues, so there's no point trying to enforce some kind of consquence. It won't matter to them and you won't be able to track them anyway, there are probably 25-50k users at this point and growing and the chance that you'll run into them again will diminish greatly as the playerbase gets larger. Best to just ignore them and move on with your game. No use pounding your head into the same brick wall over and over again. You'll make just as much progress complaining about the rain.

Creating a game title "No Rage Quitters" might make you feel better but I can't imagine that it's going to stop anyone from joining.

"Oh, this game is not for rage quitters, so I can't join that game".

Right. B)

And the reason for that is because generally a strategy game will be long, but the ultimate outcome is decided within the first five minutes. The side that gets the immediate early advantage will win the game unless they make some disastrous mistakes. Many people are busy and simply don't have the time to wait 15-20 minutes for an inevitable conclusion after initial early deaths/flag captures. I guarantee many more people fall into this category than those who quit because they are mad that their character was killed in a videogame, which is obnoxiously immature.

I seldom if ever leave a game for this reason just out of principle, but if someone has a limited time available to play, it makes complete sense.

oh please if the game lags first few minutes i wait it out  but if its still laggy and i am losen i am gone.

also if one person leaves no matter when i leave

If there is still a reasonable chance of winning I'll stick around but if it's obviously one sided I'm going to find another game/timewaster.  Some people mistake ragequitting with others saying, "yeah this game was done about 5 minutes ago, it just hasn't ended yet."

The time constraint argument is a load. People do this shit all the time in DotA too. Game starts and 15 mins later someone says "oh i gotta go (whatever bullshit excuse)" if you dont have time to play a full game regardless of outcome then don't fucking join one. I dont give a shit about your time since you clearly don't give a shit about wasting 9 other peoples time.

If the game is decided in 5 minutes you completely suck. People shouldn't be running around with a bunch of kills or smoking people in levels unless you're doing it wrong.

If you're going to play a game online stick it through or don't play. If you're going to leave after 5 minutes from some fortune telling powers then just uninstall.
