Add a Minigame to the Connection Screen/Lobby

In my experience, Close to half of my time playing DG takes place in the connection screen and/or lobby, sometimes more when trying to play with a group of friends.  Games are supposed to be about fun, and right now the connection screen is fairly lacking.  You can participate in irc chat, but that's not really good enough imo.  

 

I propose adding a simple minigame that can be brought up with shift+tab, something like tetris or bejeweled (or something totally different) would totally spruce up this part of the game that all of us spend a lot of time with.  It could even be made so that you can see other peoples scores (who you are connected to).

Alternatively you could make it so we can alt tab out and do other things without receiving a fatal error crash.  Either or.

Play the game is windowed mode like I do and you can do whatever you please.

If you are waiting for a connection in the beta and the connection info box is not in the bottom right, the issue is not connection speed, but waiting for an appropriate match.

I was actually thinking about something like this earlier. The option to swap between Windowed for Menu and Fullscreen for in-game modes would negate this issue as you could do whatever you'd like - however I'd be happy with Tetris. I downloaded a similar addon for World of Warcraft to play while I was flying from one location in the game world to another. Loved it.

Yea exactly.  I usually would alt tab and check out thottbot to plan what I was doing, or read forums.

Same. Sitting staring a screen for several minutes at a time is boring as all hell for me.
